Anna specializes in working with couples, individuals healing from eating disorders, families, members of the LGBTQIA community, survivors of trauma, individuals facing life transitions, chronic medical conditions, and a variety of mood disorders, particularly long-term depression and anxiety. I am a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Associate Counselor working towards my Professional Counselor license (LPC) under the clinical supervision of Patrica Dobratz. I earned my BA in Anthropology and Mathematics from Grinnell College and my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from South Dakota State University. I am EMDR trained, DC 0-5 trained, and have extensive training in play therapy, including neurobiology, brain development and trauma. I take a trauma informed approach to counseling, working to understand the impacts of past experiences and increasing your ability to live life as your authentic self.

I will approach our work together from a holistic perspective, looking at how mind, body, spirit, and community contribute to your challenges and, more importantly, to your healing and growth. We will collaborate to develop a roadmap for change—a vision of the life you want paired with small, achievable actions you can take here and now.

I work at Redemption Counseling Center and my experience as a Substance Use therapist spans 15 years of working with individuals, groups, and families. I offer a multidisciplinary approach to substance use with a wide variety of therapeutic modalities. I do not believe in a “one size fits all” perspective. I provide a unique understanding from both a personal and a science-based perspective on drugs, alcohol, and sex addiction. My areas of expertise are in substance use and co-occurring disorders; mindfulness; and, equine-assisted therapy.

I work with a very diverse population. My clients are interested in managing mental and behavioral health issues, striving for personal growth, and desiring to release everything from the past that no longer serves their highest interests. While many of my clients are diving deeply into long term issues, I also work with those who may simply need a thinking partner, a coach, or someone who can support them in their quest for wholehearted living.
