The Institute for Ashe Movement (IAM) was created by founder, Dr. Marshall Lee to provide individual psychotherapy and therapeutic dance and movement to residents of New Orleans.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I work with a variety of clients, many of whom have a trauma backgrounds. I use a lot of guided imagery and EMDR in my sessions. The clinician-client relationship is important and flexibility with treatment is necessary in achieving change.

As your counselor, I want to empower you to explore and manifest the changes needed to meet your goals. I believe our feelings, thoughts, and beliefs all interact and affect our behaviors. It can be hard to identify our true emotions. Our thought processes can be overwhelming or stifling. Sometimes our behaviors do not match our belief system. How do we get to this point? If you find yourself stuck and wanting to understand how you reached this state, I am the counselor for you.

As a person who’s gone through a huge amount of change lately, you’re probably wondering what your next steps are. It may seem like you’ve lost your motivation, sense of identity, security, stability, and more. Change causes us to lose things that are important to us, so it makes sense to say that change causes grief. Change can also lead us to anxiety and depression. I don’t know what you’ve lost recently, but I know it’s significant to you. Although I’m an expert on grief and loss, no one can establish expertise over your grief like you can. I understand the importance of being finely attuned to YOUR thoughts and emotions.

I work mainly with adults and couples and have 9+ years of experience working as a psychotherapist. I tend to focus on self-esteem, trauma, and childhood dynamics. I believe these issues are significantly connected to our relationship and work conflicts and often fuel anxiety, depression, and compulsive behaviors (such as drug and alcohol dependence). I also believe that the therapeutic relationship can be the most healing part of therapy and tend to use that as a guide.
