Hello, my name is Sarah Mecholsky Tipton and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Masters in Community Counseling from LSU. I am passionate about the work I do, and what fuels my passion is my clients. I see counseling as a collaborative process where I work together with you to explore and define the present problem situations. I value the insight and perspective each of my clients brings to the therapy room, since each person provides invaluable insights into their own life. I take a person-centered approach and will employ an eclectic counseling style, dependent on what each client needs.

Counseling is not just an educational endeavor for me, it is my true life’s passion. As my primary spiritual/natural gift, my purpose on earth is to utilize my counseling skills to serve others in any capacity that I can. We have all felt sad, angry, lonely, misunderstood, unforgiven, misused, abused, fed up, and so on and so forth. Our goal in therapy would be to examine your emotional well being and how it impacts your life. As a licensed clinical social worker and a PhD in psychological anthropology, I've spent over 20 years studying how people all over the world overcome their suffering. I help clients develop life skills to improve their relationships, decrease their anxiety and find joy in and acceptance of the present moment. Specifically, I combine mindfulness and meditation with cognitive behavioral therapy and traditional psychodynamic methods so that clients can both understand and change what blocks them from happiness.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with more than 35 years of experience and work with adults and young adults 18 and older. I work with individuals and groups and provide consultation and supervision to other therapists. I tend to be eclectic in my style and tailor it according to the individual and their specific circumstances. I work with a variety of issues, including grief, depression, anxiety and stress, self esteem and self compassion enhancement. I also address relationship concerns, relapse prevention, and work with family members coping with loved ones who have Alzheimer's/dementia and substance abuse disorders.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor with over six years of experience, I have had the privilege of helping strong individuals on their journey to live their best life. As a psychotherapist and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, I treat a wide range of sexual, relationship and intimacy issues. I work with individuals and couples. Sex is one of the deepest and most powerful experiences we have and it can also be a source of great stress and shame when things do not go as smoothly as we would like. Cultural messages and biases can further compound these issues. I provide a safe and nonjudgemental environment for individuals or couples to discuss these issues.
