A/PTSD is an intense anxiety disorder that occurs after being involved/witnessing a trauma in which death or serious injury was threatened or occurred. Victims of auto-accidents, especially ones in which death was involved, as well as victims of industrial accidents, violence, rape/molestation, and natural disasters sometimes benefit from the evolving techniques used in treatment. My PhD dissertation studied traumatic amputation, and I have dealt with severe accident cases since my doctorate. I will work with your insurance company.
Newer psychotherapy techniques integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with specifically targeted interventions to relieve the reoccurring intense fear, helplessness, and horror. The flashbacks, memories, and distorted beliefs are addressed. Treatment phases include the assessment phase, stabilization, and trauma reprocessing phase.
