My clinical work has consisted of treating a variety of clients with different backgrounds and concerns. I am particularly interested and experienced in treating interpersonal relationship problems, self-esteem, family of origin issues, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, codependency and LGBTQ issues. I am a dedicated advocate for transpersons. I enjoy facilitating individual and couples therapy with adults. As a compassionate, yet assertive clinician, I work with clients to meet self-identified goals. I view myself more as a guide and mentor than expert. My clients have described me as "down to earth" and "personable.".
An insight-oriented therapist, my approach is eclectic in nature. Treatment is tailored to the needs of the individual client. My work is particularly influenced by Buddhist Psychology. Meditation and mindfulness practice provide pathways to self-compassion, forgiveness and healing. EMDR is used to treat trauma, anxiety and unresolved loss.
I have significant experience and understanding in the realms of sexual/gender minority concerns, adoption, social injustice, infertility, addictive behaviors, toxic narcissism, major life transitions, and grief. I am an advocate of alternative medicinal practices including the role of plant medicine in the healing of trauma, depression and anxiety.
