For many families, navigating the ups and downs of daily life can feel daunting. Children do not come with a handbook, and even if they did, each would need their own special edition. When behavioral issues, anxiety, or ADHD is added to the already formidable tasks of family life, friendships, and school, things become overwhelming quickly. In light of how challenging day-to-day life can be, I view children's behavior as their way of meeting or communicating a deep need. In other words, our question as parents is not, “What am I doing wrong?” but, “What is my child trying to tell me?"
I specialize in working with children (ages 4+) and adolescents. I bring 30+ years of experience in settings ranging from residential treatment facilities to preschools. My therapeutic approach consists of three main “lenses”: trauma-informed, child-centered, and family-systems. I rely on CBT, art, and play techniques. I am certified in Sand Tray therapy.
I strongly believe in families' inherent ability to discover the tools and strategies that work best for them. I enjoy helping families recognize that ability in themselves to enjoy a more peaceful existence. It is an honor to walk beside families who have trusted me to support them through challenging chapters.
