My primary strengths are working with 1. couples 2. family members who have been affected by addiction and 3. teenagers struggling with anxiety and depression. I use cognitive-behavioral therapy, internal family systems theory--the idea that our learned beliefs about ourselves and the world determine how we react to stress. I base my family addictions work on Melody Beattie's Co-Dependent No More philosophy. I also very much enjoy working with couples, but I am not a referee. Your relationship is the client in the room that is looking to heal (your relationship's strengths, needs, and communication styles).

With family members affected by addiction, I provide education about the disease of addiction, the process of recovery, helping vs. enabling, the 12-Step philosophy, and most importantly, your own self-care. We find his/her authentic voice and build confidence.

I strongly believe that people must feel heard and understood in order for therapy to work. But it does not stop with being validated, you must also feel that you are growing and seeing your life in a new light after your sessions. It is my hope that our work together will help you do just that!

Beth Dimino's Groups

Teen Group for Anxiety and Depression

(Start date pending minimum of 3 people; as of 6/25/19 group is not running). Teens are struggling with overwhelming feelings of perfectionism, peer pressure, social media and loneliness. Group therapy can be incredibly helpful for teens because they realize they are not alone with their worries and can get support from their peers. Additionally, I use a cognitive-behavioral approach to treating anxiety and depression that helps both challenge the negative thinking and encourage confidence building exercises in the group and between meetings.
