Beth Barnard's Groups
The Family Life Group
The Family Life Group begins with weekly sessions focused on thinking and learning about family structure, embracing and understanding differences in families, and the impact of transition, loss, or trauma. Members learn about relationship dynamics within families and discuss our ultimate task of individuating from our families throughout our lives which includes the need to separate and to reconnect. Future sessions then give members the opportunity to process the uniqueness of their own family experience in the context of their individuation process. Members are asked to commit to the group for six months and have the option of continuing.
Talking Together
The Talking Together Group becomes a microcosm of life, as members discuss their own unique issues and learn more about their interactions with others, hence, learning more about themselves. By gaining and giving support, listening and responding to others, agreeing and disagreeing with others, by becoming comfortable speaking-up, even when it's hard to do, or by learning when it is important to listen rather than to speak, we learn more about how others perceive us, and how we perceive others. Slowly, as relationships in the group begin to change, the way members relate in life can also change.
