Hi and welcome. I was a social worker for 27 years, and have worked in the field of social services for over 31 years. I have experience working with adult survivors of child abuse, child neglect, domestic violence, commercial exploitation, and rape. I have experience working with adults dealing with anxiety, depression, divorce, family separation, and caretaker fatigue. I also have experience working with adults dealing with significant life/career changes, and those dealing with crisis situations. I have a laid-back approach and am here to support the changes you want to make in your life.
I started my career as a child protective services social worker and retired in 2022 from a job I held for 23 years. I began working as a therapist in 2000 and discovered how rewarding the work is for me, so I changed my career. Clients and I work together to develop goals that are short-term, measurable, and include rewards.
In the first session, I usually start with having clients tell me why they are interested in therapy and what issues they want to address in our work together. I then provide clients with some resources to help them start to work on their self-care and mindfulness immediately, and often homework is assigned.
