My ideal client is someone that is confused and/or disappointed in their relationships and the direction that their life is taking. Although they are aware of the part that their family, spouse, job and personal environment plays in their situation, they are willing to explore the part that they play in their difficulties. I consider motivation and a beginning level ability to communicate necessary if the work we do together has a chance to be successful.
I specialize in couple and individual therapy, my focus is psychodynamic, meaning each of our histories are an important part of how we function. I value each person in the couple and or family as an integral part of the success or failure of the treatment.
Our first session is complementary. I consider this an opportunity to meet and decide if each of us feel we can effectively work together. I have trained and continue to train in couples therapy. My hope is that helping couples will help families, thus giving our kids a better chance at being successful.
