Thank you for exploring my profile. I am accepting new clients. I see clients both in person and virtually. Licensed for 16 years, my training and experience is specialized towards working with couples and families, as well as adolescent and adult men. I utilize a direct, no-nonsense approach with notable success in treating addictions, family issues, anxiety (generalized, social, panic, etc), depression, trauma, and relationship problems. I am one of the only practitioners in San Luis Obispo County who specializes in working with men and who does family therapy.
Utilizing research-based therapies, I work quickly to help clients determine what is happening emotionally, why it happening now, and how to fix the issues quickly and directly. I am a very engaged problem-solving kind of therapist. I promise I won't stare at you blankly and say "hmmmmmmm"!
One of the first things I say to a new client is to trust their gut when looking for a therapist! The research is clear that "goodness of fit" is the best predictor of a positive outcome in therapy. Folks should know by the end of the first session whether they want to make another appointment.
