I have worked in the mental health field since 1992, beginning in Boston, MA moving to Augusta, GA and finally settling in Cleveland, OH. My early work was trauma based with children and adolescents. My practice has since grown to include families and couples. I now see clients from the age of 10, adolescents, adults, families and couples. Emotional distress, from slight unease to life disrupting behaviors, can be linked to unprocessed emotional responses to stressors. I use an integrated approach to discover and process the triggering emotions, leading healthier thought processes and a more authentic expression of self.
I believe the relationship between therapist and client to be quite capable of restructuring defenses that no longer serve us well.
I will not act as the authority but rather your ally who can help you recognize patterns in your life that are keeping you stuck and will help you find ways to shift them. I will offer you direction but know you get to decide whether you take it.
