In counseling, I utilize an integrative approach that combines reality therapy, person-centered, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I have 14 years experience working with adults in a 12-step program. This experience has given me tools and knowledge that can help others achieve their goals. I also have over 3000 hours of experience working with children 6-18 on issues such as ADHD, behavior, emotional and mood problems, social difficulties, and adjustment issues. With both children and adults, I focus on the "here and now" and the issue at hand utilizing the strengths and abilities of my clients.
I believe the counseling process does not have to be slow. Rather, I proceed at the pace at which the client feels comfortable. My goal is to help the client work through, process, and create solutions according to their own personal values, beliefs, and ideals. Much of my experience has been acquired in community based mental health settings.
My experience reflects my special interest in working with issues involving domestic violence and various types of relational abuse and relationship problems. I aspire to empower clients in setting goals for their treatment, and teach skills to reach their goals.
