I primarily utilize an eclectic approach with cognitive behavioral therapy techniques with a humanistic foundation.
It is a privilege to witness personal growth and be present with a person as they evolve. Providing a safe, confidential, collaborative, and supportive atmosphere, to work through identified problem areas is crucial to success. Managing negative patterns of thinking and behaving allows one to flourish on an interpersonal level, emotionally, and in the context of all relationships. I have extensive knowledge and experience working with anxiety, depression, addictions, relationship struggles, trauma, and many other issues.

Through the use of play, I will be able to help your family deal with behavioral issues, trauma and family development.
I have been working with young students and their families for over 30 years. Throughout this time I have gained a great deal of insight into the significance the family plays in the development of each child. Today's families are often experiencing a great deal of stress. In many cases parents are caught between raising their children while caring for their parents. Communication is the essential glue that holds our families together. In my office I offer a warm and caring environment to foster family growth and healthy family dynamics.

My clients learn how to empower their emotional health and happiness using cutting-edge ideas and findings from Cognitive Behavioral Science and Positive Psychology.
I love working with people who really want to learn how to better manage and improve their emotional health and happiness. We spend less time looking backward and more time moving forward. They develop skills that master the present and their future. My clients represent many age groups. They have many types of issues: anxiety, depression, poor self-esteem. under assertiveness, trauma, abuse, relationship problems and many more. Of course they want tools to ward off these problems. But most importantly, my ideal clients want real know-how. They want specifics, a clear roadmap that will lead them to flourish on their own.

Challenges are to be expected, getting help for these challenges is a choice. I have been both a middle and elementary school counselor for 32 years combined. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Custody Evaluator. I believe my passion and experience in working with children, teens and families along with individuals facing life transitions give me the skill set to help clients navigate toward positive, healthy change.

Cognitive-Behavioral therapy has been found an effective treatment in the field of addictions, subtance abuse, anxiety, depression, and overeating.
Within each of us is a unique essence that is striving to find its voice and grow in a positive and productive direction. For some of us, however, blocks develop that prevent us from growing toward our true potential and, essentially, we become stuck. The role of therapy was designed to help us uncover, understand, and move beyond these obstacles to once again continue our growth. As your therapist, we will work together exploring and eliminating those blockages preventing you from the enjoyment of a harmonious life.

I’ve always wanted to be in a role that helped people grow. I have been a mental health professional since 2010, working throughout one’s developing stages. Initially I began working with children with autism, ADHD, and behavioral issues. After becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, I transitioned to family-based therapy, supporting the strengthening of bonds and minimizing conflict. Subsequently, I received certification as an Advance Alcohol and Drug Counselor, assisting teenagers and adults struggling with co-occurring disorders.

Behavioral Issues Therapists
What happens in therapy for behavioral issues?
No matter the type of therapy, individuals form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is often therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Individuals learn to identify situations that are especially troublesome for them and acquire new patterns of thinking and behaving. In therapy for ADHD, one of the most common behavior issues for children, individuals learn how to improve frustration tolerance, control impulsivity, manage attentional focus, and gain skills of self-organisation.
What therapy types help with behavioral issues?
Many types of therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Perhaps best-known and most widely tested is cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT), in which individuals learn new behavioral strategies and curb reactivity to frustrating or distressing situations that trigger disruptive behaviour. Anger, anxiety, mood disorders, impulse control problems are commonly addressed in CBT. Family therapy or parent management training is often helpful to reduce parent-child conflict and behavioral difficulties at home.
How long does therapy last for behavioral issues?
Among popular approaches to treating behavioral concerns, CBT is considered a short-term therapy intended to be administered in 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Parent training in behavior management, often used when the underlying cause of behavior issues is ADHD in children under 12, usually occurs in weekly sessions for 8 to 16 weeks. When behavioral issues stem from persistent aggression or defiance, therapy may last for months, and usually targets both children and their parents.
How effective is therapy for behavior issues?
Studies show that therapy for behavior issues in children is highly effective and may prevent the development of antisocial behavior later in life. Family intervention—parent management training or family therapy, both of which involve parents and children together—is considered most effective, notably for children under age 12 who persistently engage in aggressive, defiant, rule-breaking or other disruptive behavior. Whether provided alone or in combination with medication, CBT is highly effective in helping people regulate their emotions, and for people with ADHD, it addresses impulsiveness, hyperactivity and attentional focus.
