Using primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, my holistic approach takes into account and addresses other factors which affect our emotional and physical health.
Taking New Clients! For far too long I worked in a field that gave me little to no gratification. Serendipitously, over the years I spent much of my free time volunteering for numerous causes and discovered that helping others in truly meaningful ways is the work that warms my soul. That is why I am here today offering my expertise to you. Operating from a place of compassion, my role is to gain a thorough understanding of your unique experience and how it's impacted you. I seek to identify ways I can help you alleviate harmful thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, become a happier person, and lead the life you envision.

I use several forms of therapy when counseling including cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and person centered therapy.
Do you or your child need a help? Are you going through a difficult time? Or are you concerned for you or your child's mental health? Seeking help can be difficult and frustrating for both you and your loved ones. I believe that youth and young adults need counselors who truly care about them. In my experience with this demographic I have come to learn how important it is for them to have a safe place where they can open up and express themselves without shame or judgement. I want to help you and your loved ones find freedom and safety and I believe that counseling is a wonderful way to do that.

Human behavior is complex and influenced by many factors: family-of-origin, physiology, gender, faith, culture, education, age, etc.
I believe that at the root of many of our struggles is a deep desire to be listened to. My therapeutic work is based on the idea that people by nature are relational beings with physical, spiritual, emotional, and social components, and that the exploration and integration of these aspects can be life changing and enhancing.

Using dialectical behavioral therapy, I work with clients towards empowerment in identifying behavioral, cognitive, and emotional patterns that no longer serve their best interests.
I offer therapy services for individuals, couples, and families, and see clients between the ages of 14 and 40 years old. I approach counseling through the understanding that individuals are a product of their environmental contexts and may equally influence those contexts. I also believe that we do not exist in a stagnant and unchanging world, and are continuously evolving as individuals, which shapes my scope of practice. I focus on working with clients towards empowerment and identifying behavioral, cognitive, and emotional patterns that may no longer serve their best interests.

Behavioral Issues Therapists

What happens in therapy for behavioral issues?

No matter the type of therapy, individuals form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is often therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Individuals learn to identify situations that are especially troublesome for them and acquire new patterns of thinking and behaving. In therapy for ADHD, one of the most common behavior issues for children, individuals learn how to improve frustration tolerance, control impulsivity, manage attentional focus, and gain skills of self-organisation.

What therapy types help with behavioral issues?

Many types of therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Perhaps best-known and most widely tested is cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT), in which individuals learn new behavioral strategies and curb reactivity to frustrating or distressing situations that trigger disruptive behaviour. Anger, anxiety, mood disorders, impulse control problems are commonly addressed in CBT. Family therapy or parent management training is often helpful to reduce parent-child conflict and behavioral difficulties at home.

How long does therapy last for behavioral issues?

Among popular approaches to treating behavioral concerns, CBT is considered a short-term therapy intended to be administered in 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Parent training in behavior management, often used when the underlying cause of behavior issues is ADHD in children under 12, usually occurs in weekly sessions for 8 to 16 weeks. When behavioral issues stem from persistent aggression or defiance, therapy may last for months, and usually targets both children and their parents.

How effective is therapy for behavior issues?

Studies show that therapy for behavior issues in children is highly effective and may prevent the development of antisocial behavior later in life. Family intervention—parent management training or family therapy, both of which involve parents and children together—is considered most effective, notably for children under age 12 who persistently engage in aggressive, defiant, rule-breaking or other disruptive behavior. Whether provided alone or in combination with medication, CBT is highly effective in helping people regulate their emotions, and for people with ADHD, it addresses impulsiveness, hyperactivity and attentional focus.
