I am certified in EMDR and integrate IFS language around complex issues.
Sometimes it's difficult to know the full extent of the way our trauma and life experiences have impacted us. We find ourselves repeating certain patterns that we know are not good for us and can't seem to break the chain, we constantly fall into moods and feelings that it's difficult to pull ourselves out of. In deciding to do therapy with me, together we learn how to identify the ways in which your past trauma and life experiences show up in your adult life and begin rewriting your narrative for your future.

I use an integrative approach pulling from Psychodynamic, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Compassionate Inquiry (CI), CBT, DBT, Somatic and EMDR depending on the needs of each client.
If you are struggling in your relationships, experiencing a life transition, open to uncovering the roots of your painful emotions, finding yourself in patterns that are not serving you, curious to work through trauma, and/or in need of support to cope with all that life can throw at you, I am here for you. My clients tend to be more resilient than they realize, and I am here to help you utilize that strength. Together, we can process whatever it is you are dealing with presently, or have dealt with in the past, and help you release your burdens so you can live the life you want to live, which you deserve.

In addition to my 20+ years of working with people, I am certified in anger management, career counseling and trained in EMDR, IFS, and mindfulness based CBT.
Hi, thank you for stopping by. Breaking unhealthy patterns of behavior. Struggling with a (recent or past) traumatic event. Working on your anger or other emotions that get in the way of achieving goals. Learning how to set boundaries. Gaining insight about yourself. Learning more effective ways to communicate at work or in your personal relationship. Can't vent to friends or family anymore. All of these are the right reasons for therapy. This is the first step towards feeling better, thinking better, working better and living better.

My approach to therapy is an integration of person-centered therapy, psychodynamic theory, trauma informed IFS, and attachment theory.
Do you find yourself getting stuck in the same relationship patterns over and over again? Do you find yourself doing everything in your power to discontinue previous relational patterns and behaviors? Are you struggling with self-doubt, low-self-esteem, and painful self-criticism that seems to be holding you back? My approach to therapy looks at these patterns and behaviors through the lens of parts work. This allows us to separate the self (you), from the parts that struggle with self-doubt, and from the parts that persist in repeating unhealthy relationships and behavioral patterns.

I am certified in Imago Therapy, am training to become an AASECT certified sex therapist and am informed in my relational work by Internal Family Systems, Terry Real’s Relational Life Model and The Gottman Method.
Intimate relationships are an opportunity for great love, enrichment of our lives and true partnership. The challenges we face in modern-day society and the lack of training we receive often equate to great difficulties within some of our most important relationships. I love relational work because we have an opportunity to create meaningful, loving and supporting relationships, but only if we have the tools to do so. Imago Relationship Therapy provides tools, a perspective shift and a roadmap. This is courageous work, that can significantly impact yourself, your relationships and those around you.

Drawing from my advanced training in Internal Family Systems and using a holistic approach that includes mindfulness, visualization and body awareness we will create a personalized treatment approach.
You are probably reading this because something doesn't feel right and you hope for change - you may be down or anxious, perhaps you are struggling with work or a relationship. Taking the first step is always the hardest, so I recognize the courage it takes to look for a therapist. Perhaps you feel overwhelmed or ungrounded or maybe have a sense of being stuck or lost. We all go through times when life feels harder than it should. Whatever is going on, talking does help. Therapy gives you the space to slow down and turn your attention inward.

I am currently becoming IFS-informed and incorporate aspects of Internal Family Systems (parts work/inner child work) into my practice.

I look to help clients process their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, create a deeper awareness and understanding of themselves, and ultimately develop self-compassion, relief from symptoms, and positive change. I work collaboratively with clients to identify both positive and negative patterns or areas for potential growth in their lives, create goals for themselves and improve at their own pace.

I am a mental health counselor with a specialization in trauma. My perspective on working with clients is through a lens that traumas, both big and small, can create rifts within our selves, our personal relationships, and hinder our potential. I am trained in EMDR through an EMDR international association approved training and IFS through the IFS institute. Both modalities offer evidence based treatment for trauma. If you choose to enter therapeutic work with me you can expect a space where your feelings and experiences are validated while we work together to examine those that are challenging or not currently serving you.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
