Hi, I'm Barry Johnson, a licensed therapist in Columbia, Mo. I enjoy working with adults like you who may need some extra support navigating life transitions, coming to terms with trauma, dealing with work and school stress, or coping with general symptoms of anxiety and depression. We all share a universal need to "be heard" and the right therapist can provide a space where your voice is paramount.
I bring 20 years of experience working with a diverse range of clients including military service members and veterans. This experience has given me a deep respect for how trauma, loss, and major life transitions can hold a grip on our emotions. I lean on a psychodynamic approach along with evidence based practices like cognitive behavioral therapy and EMDR.
Whether you’re living in the wake of trauma, finding yourself stuck in emotional knots, or simply wanting to understand yourself a little better, my approach starts where you are.
