Changing one's unhappiness or difficulties in life often feels like a daunting task. My clients become empowered to get their needs met and solve their problems, primarily through cognitive and behavioral techniques and psychoeducation. Taking responsibility for their own growth, they increase their self esteem and confidence. My typical client seeks more effective coping skills, guidance through treatment for depression, mood disorders, anxiety, grief, stress management, adjustment to divorce or other life changes, AD/HD, addictions; also workplace and parenting issues, and trauma.
My certified specialty is addictions treatment. Through experience and training I also specialize in treating AD/HD, mood disorders, communication, victims of trauma and abuse, general unhappiness and lack of success in one's life. Preferred therapeutic techniques are cognitive and behavioral, dynamic and psychoeducational.
Clients must feel safe and trust the therapist's skills for therapy to work. I am trained in CBT, DBT and EMDR). This means: 1) I am focused on helping my clients effect changes in their lives; 2) My style of therapy is relaxed, interactive and direct; 3) My clients are encouraged to take responsibiity for their happiness, success and personal power.
