I have been practicing for 18 years, and have a very strong expertise in relationships (couples therapy, relationship conflict, infidelity, divorce, dating). I also specialize in addictions and working with high-achieving individuals. My approach involves helping clients develop insight about why they are finding themselves "stuck," while also teaching useful skills that facilitate behavior change; both are crucial for lasting change to occur. Insight provides understanding and self-compassion. Skills help us function better in our day-to-day lives. My work with clients is empathic, collaborative, practical and often involves a deeper exploration of past experiences that shape current thoughts, feelings & behaviors.
I tailor my approach based on your needs. With couples, my approach is informed by Emotion Focused Therapy and Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy. With individuals struggling with anxiety, trauma, substance abuse and other mental health concerns, my approach is informed by Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, 12-Step Facilitation, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
In Delaware, my practice is in Middletown. In Maryland, my practice is on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay, on the border of Cecil and Kent County. I also provide tele-psychology services to New York clients. I conduct Motivational Interviewing workshops for healthcare practitioners in MD, DE, and NYC.
