Trauma is often a systemic tool of oppression we all face. No ethnic group is the exception. My strength-based, de-colonial and indigenous healing focus and identity “Ekon Kamau Sadeq,” which means brave truth seeking warrior, helps clients to understand their healthy and appropriate adaptations to abnormal circumstances and unearth their often stolen and hidden potential/identities hidden in their trauma. As a couple & family therapist, trauma expert, anti-racist & de-colonial practitioner and indigenous healer, I possess a “knowing” that speaks to the deep and evident truth. Additionally, as a fitness enthusiast, I am referred to as “not your average therapist.” I assist beyond mental health. As an empath, I process emotions with unusual depth and speed.
Services are trauma, multicultural and social justice informed. Trauma includes effects, prevention, and recovery of trauma. Multiculturally-informed means exploring one’s ethnic identity. Groups
Reclaiming Our Nature. Black Men Empowerment Group
Reclaiming our nature is a Black men support group designed to engage and bring Black men into community in order to reverse the deleterious effects of systemic racism, the curse of Willie Lynch and regain our indigenous ways of knowing. The group will read and discuss the Willie Lynch Letter as well as “Breaking the Curse of Willie Lynch: The Science of Slave Psychology” by Alvin Morrow. There is a screening required to participate in this group. 8 group members will be selected based on suitability for the group.
