You’re searching for meaning or purpose in life. Perhaps you want to trust your intuition more. You feel at a crossroads. You’ve been successful in your work but feel a bit unsatisfied. You’re stable but lacking joie de vivre. You’re a creative, but not feeling all that creative right now. You sense this isn't something your sharp intellect or talk therapy can help you with. You feel your body holds wisdom for you, but you don’t know how to access it. I put decades of experience in psychotherapy and depth, creative, and contemplative processes in service of guiding and witnessing your unfolding into a more authentic, at-peace you.

You’re ready for something to shift—but you don’t want to spend years rehashing your past. I work with thoughtful adults who are tired of looping the same patterns and want meaningful change now. We’ll rewire unhelpful thought loops, reduce emotional noise, and get you aligned with how you actually want to feel. We can trust that what matters from the past is showing up in the present. This is solution focused therapy to help you feel clear, calm, and able to move forward in a way that feels good to you. We'll gain understanding, yes, but also tools for change. If you're curious about what's next, I’d be honored to walk with you.

Things happen to us everyday which impact and change who we are and how we though the world. My twenty-five plus years of working in this field with individual's of diverse ages, cultures and back grounds have proven this to be true. I believe my role as a therapist is to support others in identifying "their" purpose while growing their mental, emotional and physical health. The passion for supporting others in the process of gaining insight and identifying positive changes toward their future is "my" purpose.

With nearly 10 years of clinical experience, I’ve honed my skills to help you find a path toward an authentic you. I believe that therapy is about challenging the stories we tell ourselves—the ones that keep us stuck, small, or disconnected. Real change comes from doing the hard work: questioning old patterns, building an understanding of our beliefs and where they come from, and stepping bravely into discomfort. I want to get in the trenches with you to help you face what’s hard and build a version of yourself more aligned with your values, intentional, and honest.

The essence of my counseling approach is that I know each person to be whole and unique regardless of what is currently being experienced. I help clients focus on areas of difficulty with kind acceptance. Knots of anxiety, depression and unhappiness unravel and resolve into greater peace. One begins to know oneself as bigger than the problem. I teach cognitive behavioral skills of mindfulness, centering and focusing to allow a greater repertoire of responses to habitual problem areas. I provide a safe place to explore one's deeper self and resolve issues that block happiness and the realization of potential.

In addition, positive psychology that includes mindfulness and thought changing becomes a powerful ally with this.
I love my work. It is such a joy to assist folks in discovering more of who they are, to uncover more of their authentic self. This is what occurs as issues brought to therapy are processed. I enjoy working with adults of all ages although as I age, I have found a special niche for seniors. I have a background in addressing depression, anxiety, stress, life transition and grief as well as feminine power issues.

I am a compassionate therapist committed to creating a safe, supportive space where you can explore and overcome life’s challenges. I often think of therapy as working on a puzzle together—we take the scattered pieces of your experiences, emotions, and goals, and figure out how they fit to create a clearer, more complete picture of your life. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs, combining evidence-based practices with genuine care to promote healing and growth. Together, we’ll work toward greater balance, resilience, and fulfillment as defined by you.

For over 40 years I have been helping individuals, couples, and families to learn better ways to manage their lives using advanced therapeutic techniques. The focus is on learning to manage emotions, how to change behaviors, and how to become more resilient in order to cope with whatever challenges life may bring. We can work on a single issue or explore working deeply through multiple complicated issues to untangle the mental, emotional, and physical effects that trauma may create in order to bring about deeper, long lasting healing and overall sense of wellbeing.

How does positive psychology therapy work?

Positive psychology therapy derives from the work of Martin Seligman of the University of Pennsylvania. He and others developed the field of positive psychology building on humanistic theory. Positive psychology therapy is similar to acceptance and commitment therapy, and it essentially quiets emotional distress through positivity, contentment, and well-being. This therapy does not reduce the individual to symptoms and conditions.

When do I know if I need treatment using positive psychology?

If an individual is overwhelmed by emotional distress and general negativity, they may feel trapped. A positive psychology therapist can help them view their emotions and behaviors differently, and approach life with a better understanding of their positive strengths. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from positive psychology therapy?

The patient may be asked to explore their signature strengths. The therapist will also ask the individual to talk about their goals, which should be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. Discussing negative experiences and symptoms is important, but so is the exploration of positive experiences. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more positive and fulfilling way. This therapy is proactive and may use forgiveness, gratitude, hope, and compassion to help reframe negativity.

Is positive psychology effective in therapy?

Positive psychology therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with eating disorders benefit from this type of intervention. This therapy encourages the person to reframe their distressed thoughts and move into healthier patterns of functioning. This therapy also aims to move an individual toward what works well in their life. Positive psychology therapy can elicit lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
