Are You Feeling Stuck? Sometimes the strategies and coping mechanisms that once protected you from pain or hardship can become the very things that hold you back. Over time, they may interfere with your well-being, your relationships, and your ability to connect with your community. When we’re caught in cycles of stress or trauma, it’s common to develop narratives rooted in blame—of others or of ourselves. But healing begins when we start to understand the deeper biological, psychological, and social factors at play. By recognizing that help is necessary I am able to assist  you in moving towards solutions .

What is it like to be you right now? This question starts our work together. The decision to begin therapy is often because something inside and/or outside of us has become too much— too heavy, overwhelming, chaotic, repetitive, isolating, frustrating, stressful, heartbreaking or angering. I offer attentive, honest and individualized therapy where we will explore the ways your emotional and internal experiences connect to your early life, the here and now, your relationship to self and others and your specific contexts.

I work with individuals, families, and/or systems who find themselves 'stuck'. I work from an inclusive and eclectic framework which allows me to work from the outside or join, as needed, to move past the 'stuck' points. I recently took steps towards physical gender affirming transition. Those who have known me these 13+ years in the field will find this a step in learning and growing with me; those who have heard my name as a recommendation will also find this a step in learning and growing. To learn is to grow; to grow is to be alive!

As we journey through life, many factors blend to form who we are today. When we experience hurts, abuses, traumatic events, or unhealthy relationships we learn to find survival mechanisms that served their purpose at the time but are no longer effective in the present. I use a client-centered approach tailored to meet your individual needs to find the best path to healing. I chose counseling as a career because I have had a life-long passion for helping people.

Maybe you're feeling stuck in the same cycles you can't seem to break out of. Maybe you're struggling to maintain relationships that feel safe and supportive. Maybe you know that you've been impacted by the painful experiences you've had, but you don't know where to start with unpacking them. It can be scary to face your pain, and you deserve support. You're not too much, and you're not alone. I want to support you with deepening your self-understanding and self-compassion. Healing is possible when you're ready to start.

Some of my clients arrive at their lowest point, overwhelmed, dysregulated, and unsure things can ever feel okay again. I work with young people ages 6–17 and adults navigating trauma, emotional crisis, and the kind of pain that's hard to put into words. But beneath every difficult behavior is a person who wants to be heard, to feel safe, and to believe that something better is possible. Their families want answers, reassurance, and a team that actually sees them. I bring consistency, compassion, and practical tools to every session, not just to get through the crisis, but to build something that holds up long after it passes.

Sometimes life is just a lot! Whether we’re wading through a world on fire or just trying to feel better however we know how, it’s nice to have other hands to help us hold it all. Therapy can be a solid place to find your footing and feel supported. I’d love to be in it with you. I’m a counseling intern at Desert Lotus Counseling, currently completing my second-year MSW practicum. When working with people, I really believe clients should be the tellers of their own stories, so that you feel fully listened to and our therapeutic relationship stays as collaborative as possible.

This is therapy that makes room for complexity. You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns that no longer fit—especially if you’re queer, trans, non-binary, disabled, or navigating non-monogamy or relationship stress. You might be carrying chronic pain, attachment concerns, or emotional exhaustion from constantly adapting to systems and relationships that don’t fully see you. If you’re looking for a queer therapist who offers support that helps you understand yourself more deeply, strengthen connection, and build a life that feels more aligned and sustainable, I'd love to talk with you.

You're ready to move forward, break cycles, and do big things, but you’re still anxious, overwhelmed, and stuck in the same patterns. We'll untangle that in our work together - working to with and not against the protective patterns that have kept you safe. Growing up queer often required adaptation — sometimes silence, sometimes hyper-independence, sometimes performance or shrinking yourself. Those strategies made sense at that time, but they may now be driving anxiety, reactivity, or emotional exhaustion. You're looking for actual shifts and depth, not just more knowledge - you want healing, not more of the same.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
The gender of your therapist can matter, depending on your individual comfort preferences and therapeutic goals. While therapy outcomes are often driven by the therapist’s methodology and the strength of the therapeutic relationship, many people feel more at ease working with a therapist who shares or understands their gender identity, which can enhance trust and improve therapy outcomes. For clients who are non-binary or gender-diverse, working with a therapist of a similar identity may reduce the need to explain or justify their experiences and can increase the sense of being seen and understood. This dynamic may be especially important when addressing topics related to gender, sexuality, trauma, or relationships. Ultimately, what matters most is finding a therapist who is respectful and knowledgeable of your identity—regardless of their own gender.

What are the advantages of seeing a non-binary therapist?
Working with a non-binary therapist can offer unique benefits for individuals seeking support around gender identity. Therapists who personally identify as non-binary may bring both professional training and personal insight to their work, creating a therapeutic space that some clients may find more affirming and welcoming. These therapists often have specialized knowledge in areas such as gender-affirming care, gender dysphoria, and navigating family or social acceptance. They may also be particularly skilled in helping clients find additional resources, such as affirming healthcare providers or community-based supports that align with and affirm their identity.

How can I find a non-binary therapist?
The Psychology Today online directory is a helpful tool for identifying therapists who identify as non-binary. You can use filters to search by identity markers as well as by clinical specialty, therapeutic approach, insurance accepted, session costs, and languages spoken to help ensure a good fit. During an initial consultation or early sessions, consider asking about the therapist’s training in gender-affirming care, their experience with LGBTQ+ clients, and their therapeutic approach to identity-related topics. An effective therapist will be open and affirming in their responses. You can also look for credentials or continuing education in areas such as LGBTQ+ mental health, trauma-informed care, and intersectionality.
