I strive to create a tranquil, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where my clients can feel safe and allow themselves to be vulnerable and honest about what they’re feeling. By sharing your struggles and your ideal future, we can collaborate in changing those aspirations into realizations. I believe we all have the strength within ourselves to overcome and persevere, but sometimes we just need a helping hand to draw out that inner strength.

You are not alone if you are feeling stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, or struggling in a relationship, feeling family stress, experiencing grief and loss, or having trauma symptoms. Reaching out to ask for help is one of the hardest, most vulnerable choices, and it can bring the relief, and the support that you deserve. Working as a therapist for over twenty years I have had the opportunity to join clients through their darkest times and support them to connect with their authenticity, and build coping skills to self-regulate and take care of themselves in new ways, with deeper awareness and compassion.

If you're feeling 'stuck' in a relationship whether it be romantic, work/professional, or another dynamic, even the relationship with self, this is not uncommon. Sometimes, we need a mirror to compassionately reflect back to us key insights that we might otherwise miss in order to understand why a shift might be challenging. My educational journey started in the Green Mountains of VT at Middlebury college, then moved west and completed my MSW at Arizona State University. In my free time I love to garden, run/be outdoor with my sweet Belgian Malinois, practice yoga, read, write, and spend time with friends.

I have provided support to diverse populations, adults, and young adults in individual and couples therapy since 2014.
Often, we rely on our natural supports for guidance however soon we realize, it is not helpful, perhaps because they say what they think we want to hear, and that’s not beneficial. I believe that for change to occur we must gain insight and self-awareness into the problem and that the therapeutic relationship between a client and therapist is essential. Despite the adversity you have encountered you deserve to live your best life and experience the best version of you. My role is to implement the most appropriate strategies and interventions and use my 17 years of experience in community mental health to support and guide you.

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
