The prospect of healing trauma or moving through big life transitions can seem daunting. When we’ve experienced trauma, it can rob us of our sense of self, creativity, contentment and ability to take healthy risks. At Embrace the Multiplicity Counseling, I provide you a safe, non-judgmental space where you’ll learn skills to build resiliency and help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that grief and trauma have obscured. It is an honor to be a part of your path to self-discovery and wholeness.

You’ve poured yourself into your work and relationships. You’ve held everything together—sometimes at great personal cost. But somewhere along the way, your generous heart was wounded… Outwardly you seem okay, you have put on a brave front for the world, but inwardly you are hanging on by a thread. You may wonder: "When will I catch a break?" or “Why do I feel something's missing?” You’ve tried to think your way out of it, to stay positive, to be spiritual, to push through. But it’s not working anymore.

You’re searching for meaning or purpose in life. Perhaps you want to trust your intuition more. You feel at a crossroads. You’ve been successful in your work but feel a bit unsatisfied. You’re stable but lacking joie de vivre. You’re a creative, but not feeling all that creative right now. You sense this isn't something your sharp intellect or talk therapy can help you with. You feel your body holds wisdom for you, but you don’t know how to access it. I put decades of experience in psychotherapy and depth, creative, and contemplative processes in service of guiding and witnessing your unfolding into a more authentic, at-peace you.

My background in Family Systems and Problem Solving Brief Therapy, helps me provide a unique and individualized treatment to my clients.
Mujer, you’ve been strong for everyone… but who supports you? On the outside, everything may look fine—but inside you feel overwhelmed, tired, or disconnected from yourself. You’ve spent years being the strong one—holding it all together for everyone else. Pero lately, it feels heavier. Harder. You might even be wondering, “Why can’t I handle things like I used to?” Between cultural expectations, family roles, and life, it can feel lonely. I see you, and you don’t have to carry this alone. This can be your space to breathe, feel supported, and begin to come back to yourself.

I draw from ACT, Internal Family Systems ( IFS), and Person-Centered approaches, all within a trauma-informed framework.
Hi, I'm Kaila and I am so grateful you are here; you might feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve you: perfectionism, people-pleasing, anxiety, chronic self-doubt, relationship struggles, or difficulty processing past trauma. Often, you’ve been strong for too long and are ready to let someone else support you. You want clarity, connection, and peace of mind. You may crave healthier boundaries, deeper relationships, or simply a break from the constant pressure to be "on". What you want, at the heart of it, is to feel safe being who you are, truly.

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you are not sure how to put into words what is wrong. Sometimes you may feel exhausted trying to hold it together, simply feeling like something isn't working. With me, therapy is collaborative, supportive, and paced to meet you where you are. You don't have to have everything figured out when you first walk in, and there is no pressure to share more than you are ready to share. Therapy with me is both safe and practical, offering understanding while also helping you move forward in ways that matter to you.

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
