Hi, I’m Lisa. I work with individuals and couples in all kinds of relationship distress. Whether you’re struggling in your partnership, are feeling disconnected from those around you, or find yourself arguing with your kids more than you’d like, I’d love to help.
When our ways of communicating and connecting with those we love break down, our whole world can go sideways. My role is to listen without the old hurts and fears and to help partners and individual clients hear new things in the same old messages they’ve been hashing out.

Understanding impact of trauma on development and relational patterns in adulthood; toxic relationship C-PTSD & trauma bonding; identifying attachment styles for understanding how to better express needs; solution focused therapy; somatic therapy; IFS and EFT components for understanding how to make effective, lasting change.
If you're feeling 'stuck' in a relationship whether it be romantic, work/professional, or another dynamic, even the relationship with self, this is not uncommon. Sometimes, we need a mirror to compassionately reflect back to us key insights that we might otherwise miss in order to understand why a shift might be challenging.
My educational journey started in the Green Mountains of VT at Middlebury college, then moved west and completed my MSW at Arizona State University. In my free time I love to garden, run/be outdoor with my sweet Belgian Malinois, practice yoga, read, write, and spend time with friends.

I help clients with relationship issues, stress and anxiety, complex trauma, and PTSD. My clients often find themselves excelling in high-stress careers while struggling with perfectionism, self-criticism, or self-doubt. They may be caught in self-destructive behaviors or patterns they don’t fully understand, or wrestling with frustrating, confusing inner conflicts. Many have tried therapy before and gained a cognitive understanding of their problems, but still don’t feel better in a way that allows for lasting, integrated change.
I am LGBTQ+ affirming, and I enjoy working with both individuals and couples from the LGBTQ+ community.

I find that working with energy psychology (eg., EFT or tapping) most directly provides this holistic model.
I love my work. It is such a joy to assist folks in discovering more of who they are, to uncover more of their authentic self. This is what occurs as issues brought to therapy are processed. I enjoy working with adults of all ages although as I age, I have found a special niche for seniors. I have a background in addressing depression, anxiety, stress, life transition and grief as well as feminine power issues.

Life isn't easy. It didn't come with a manual or personalized directions, and sometimes leaves you feeling completely lost. A little help from somebody who will listen, help you feel understood and valued, and give you the guidance you need to get back on track. I want to provide you with a safe space for you to explore your thoughts, emotions and needs; to achieve a healthier mind, body, and spirit. There is no "one-size fits all" approach to therapy. I tailor every session to suit each individual (or couple). I appreciate being able to learn about you and walk through the challenges you are facing.

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.
Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.
What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.
What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
