is built on respect and trust.
Do you have questions? If you do, together we can discover how you already have the answers you are looking for. Together we can explore how challenging events may have impacted your life and current daily functioning. Two people can experience the same event yet each individual may have differing thoughts, opinions, reaction, and emotions about that event. Together we can look at what you are experiencing through different perspectives to gain a better understanding of how to move forward.

Relationship
101 is captured beautifully by Esther Perel: "The quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives." If you long to learn how to nourish, strengthen, and/or repair your relationships I'm here to encourage you to relate more clearly and compassionately with yourself and with your loved ones. I'm sex-positive and believe that a
relationship
is like an intimate dance in which mutual partnership depends on communication, curiosity and vulnerability. If you feel stuck in your (life) dance, or perhaps are apprehensive to risk new moves, I might be a great fit for you.

Are you and your
partner
arguing more than usual? Do you feel like every interaction with your teen has become a power struggle? Have you experienced unrewarding or even unhealthy relationships? Daily life can be complicated and challenging, so you look to your relationships to provide understanding, support and security. However, when your relationships are strained, you may not have anything that gives you solace or that soft place to land at the end of the day. You are doing the best that you know how, but sometimes that is just not enough.

Currently, my primary focus is working with children and adolescents; helping them to reprocess trauma and improve their interpersonal relationships as well as help them develop a healthier
relationship
with themselves. Helping children and teens learn who they are and learning to love themselves is a bright spot in my profession. My approach is trauma-informed and strength-based. In a person-centered therapeutic setting, I strive to help individuals increase their resilience by processing their trauma and re-writing the narrative of their negative belief system; replacing it with a sense of empowerment and resourcefulness.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
