Are
anger
or out-of-control anxiety/depression negatively impacting how you live? Get out of your mind and into your life; live in harmony with your feelings and not a prisoner to them. Ethos Counseling combines cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with mindfulness, teaching you to be fully present in the moment rather than living life stuck in your head. Mindfulness teaches you to live in the now; CBT, an evidence-based approach, teaches that thoughts influence feelings which influence behavior. To change our behavior, we must first change our thoughts. CBT effectively treats anxiety disorders and depression. Contact us now for help!

Does it seem like living the life you desire is out of reach but somehow easy for others? Does it feel like you take a step forward just to run into a wall of anxiety, depression and/or
anger
blocking your path? Know now you come by these feelings honestly. Past losses/traumas can easily set up this reoccurring pattern. I truly understand how this happens and yet wholeheartedly believe that you can live a connected & vibrant life. I also know that working through the past in a safe space is crucial to breaking free. You may not remember the last time you truly felt safe, so my goal is to create an environment where healing can begin

I work with adults and adolescents, using over a decade of experience addressing issues including depression and anxiety,
anger
, trauma and self harm parenting/co-parenting and positive communication skills.
Talking about problems can be difficult, not to mention taking action to solve them. The change process unfolds when you are listened to and understood. With warmth, humor, interest, and respect, I will help you focus on action steps as well as just talking as you make and maintain contact with your goals and also with your hopes and dreams. To do so I will also help you examine any life patterns, active in the present or originating from the past, that contribute to feeling stuck. Assisting you to bring mindfulness, commitment, and self-compassion into the change process will be my role.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
