I provide coaching services for children and adolescents who struggle with executive functioning disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, ( ADHD ). These children and adolescents struggle with organizational skills, maintaining focus and concentration on tasks they do not find entertaining. They also struggle with consistently regulating their emotions. As a result of these difficulties these children and adolescents experience academic underachievement, disciplinary issues at school and at home, and relationship issues with their peers and relatives.

Help for the parent of a child diagnosed with ADHD is not helpful for an adult with a traumatic past.
SORRY...NOT NOW SCHEDULING NEW CLIENTS. I believe we can change by learning new behaviors and new ways of understanding. By working in the present, we can change the future. Even though I use humor, I know the work can be difficult. I am honored to be part of that work with my clients and to have been with them while they change their future. I adapt my work to your needs. “Client centered” is natural to me. With some exceptions I do not believe “one size fits all.” The exceptions are that every one deserves to be treated with respect, compassion, honesty, and complete integrity.

Success has been seen with children presenting with ADHD , and teens or adults with addiction, self harm behaviors, trauma, low self-esteem, and “failure to launch” issues.
The core of the work done here is allowing you to access in real time, instinctual solutions for what ails you. This is done by employing specific activities that all but require the client to become present with their emotional reality. The horse only responds favorably to self-awareness and honesty. When this is achieved, the honesty, vulnerability, and awareness are reinforced via undoubted connection with the horse. Often, this leads to feelings of contentment, confidence, and awareness. These are then applied to both intra and inter-personal relationships when not with the horse.

My focus is primarily providing comprehensive evaluations for children ages 2 years and older to address concerns regarding learning, ADHD , social/emotional, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and cognitive disabilities.
Many children struggle with the pressures of our modern world. Through therapy, a struggling child can be provided with the skills and tools to reach their greatest potential. I believe that each child has individual needs, therefore a personalized evaluation helps tailor a treatment plan that focuses on his or her strengths. My goal is always to assist the child in gaining the tools necessary to be successful.

I work with children, teenagers, and adults that have experienced depression, anxiety/ocd, trauma, adhd , behavioral and relational issues.
I believe change is difficult for most people. We often get stuck in certain patterns of behavior and find it difficult to move forward and heal. Every individual has the ability to change within themselves and it is my role to help guide people along the path of change. It is my goal as a Psychologist to help people capitalize on their strengths and teach them new ways of thinking, behaving, and coping with certain issues. I believe every child, teenager, adult, and family unit are unique and require an special/individualized approach to help them achieve their full potential.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
