I see you. You’re doing all of the “right” things, but there’s a heaviness you just can’t shake. Maybe it’s the trappings of loneliness, grief, worry, or shame. You can’t remember the last time you felt like yourself, and it feels like it might be this way forever.
The wisdom of Ram Dass, who wrote, “We are all just walking each other home,” is central to my approach to your healing. Compassionate witnessing in a safe container is oftentimes all that’s needed to move the needle towards the wholeness that’s already within.

I enjoy working with individuals interested in healing relational or developmental trauma. I am certified as a somatic experiencing practitioner and as a psychodynamic psychotherapist. I am also trained in equine therapy and utilize horses in individual sessions when appropriate as an adjunct to deepening body awareness and developing joyful connections to living beings. I am focused on positive interactions and stabilizing internal resources in a safe environment. Increasing awareness of the external environment through the senses and noticing how this impacts body sensations begins a process of self development through observation. The person begins to individuate from the trauma.

I work with neurodivergent adults, especially those with Autism and ADHD, as well as people navigating chronic illness, disability, end-of-life concerns, LGBTQ+ identity, and the complicated aftermath of being raised by narcissistic or emotionally immature parents.
As someone who is neurodivergent, disabled, and queer myself, I don't just understand these experiences intellectually, I live them. That shapes everything about how I show up in the therapy room.

Carl Rogers, the founder of person-centered psychotherapy reflected, “We cannot move away from what we are, until we thoroughly accept what we are. Then change seems to come about almost unnoticed”. Rogers named this “unconditional positive regard”. In my therapy sessions my role is to be a good listener who understands and has compassion for your story. Through sessions, as you learn more about me, a relationship can begin where trust builds and you can begin to find a path onward to self understanding.

You are both the leader and driving force of your life.
What do you want and need? What brings you joy, pleasure, and peace amidst large-scale and personal chaos? What changes are you willing to make? What do you value most?
I welcome the opportunity to walk with you as you determine your answers and the questions themselves. I believe in the importance of authentic human connection and "goodness of fit" when it comes to a therapeutic relationship. I wish you the best as you wade through therapist profiles looking for someone who might be a good fit - it is a huge act of self love, and you deserve it.

I use a psychodynamic, attachment-based, and family systems approach to therapy. My work is informed by object relations theory and focuses on helping clients understand long-standing relationship patterns, heal from attachment injuries, and develop a stronger sense of self. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families, and integrate play therapy, parent coaching, and practical coping strategies when appropriate. I also have extensive experience working with court-involved and high-conflict families in a neutral, child-centered manner.

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
