Stress, anxiety, and unhealed trauma impacts our relationships, our jobs, our families, and even how we feel about ourselves. Chronic stress and unresolved trauma can impact our brains along with our nervous system. When this happens, we can feel as if we are stuck in our relationships & jobs or even trapped in our own lives. Fear & anxiety does not have to control your everyday thoughts and cultivating joy is possible! Choosing to get help is the first step towards healing yourself. I also offer clinical supervision for associate level therapists looking to gain hours towards their license at $125 per hour.

I specialize in divorce recovery, trauma recovery, affair and other betrayal recovery, and empowering individuals in all walks of life.
I believe our greatest joy — and often our deepest pain — grows out of our relationships. When communication feels strained, when conflict keeps repeating, or when old wounds quietly resurface, it can leave you feeling disconnected, misunderstood, or alone. These patterns can feel discouraging, but they are also deeply workable.

Life doesn't always go the way we envisioned it would. Sometimes we can handle life's curveballs, but sometimes we need some guidance to do so. Whether relationships aren't going well, work or school isn't enjoyable and fulfilling, you feel different or overwhelmed after a new baby, something inside of you doesn't feel quite right, or you just want to discover who you are, I can support and guide you through the obstacles keeping you from living the life you want. I can help with a wide range of issues like trauma, anxiety, stress, career/school pressures, family/relationship problems, affairs, communication issues, and many more.

You are or your child is someone who finds yourself in a constant state of “fight, flight, freeze or fawn” and are tired of feeling overwhelmed. Therapy is here to help people of all ages to incorporate new tools into their life so that they can break out of that long-held pattern. Sometimes the tools we have aren’t working. When life isn’t what you thought it would be and you experience problems in your relationships with your partner, children, co-workers, extended family members; or perhaps you have problems dealing with past family issues, or have experienced a recent or past trauma. As a result you may be feeling depressed, anxious, have difficulty sleeping, experiencing mood changes, have angry outbursts or perhaps you’re drinking a little too much, eating too much or too little. Events in life shape a person’s belief system which can effect their perception of themselves and those around them.

Divorce Therapists
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
