Maybe it’s the trappings of loneliness, grief, worry, or shame.
Through relation-based rapport that draws from the tenants of attachment science, mindfulness, nervous system literacy, and psychodynamic theory we will collaborate to make space for all of the stories aching to be told, and parts wanting to be seen. The great paradox (and fun!) of this work is that there are many roads to get to a place that already exists.

You've made the first step toward having more peace and less anxiety in your life.
You are or your child is someone who finds yourself in a constant state of “fight, flight, freeze or fawn” and are tired of feeling overwhelmed. Therapy is here to help people of all ages to incorporate new tools into their life so that they can break out of that long-held pattern. Sometimes the tools we have aren’t working. Sometimes we need new tools. Or sometimes the tools we have just need to be sharpened. I’ll provide you with options for choosing the most effective strategies for you to live your best life. As your therapist, my intention is to provide a connection that allows you to find meaning in your life.

My practice is centered on supporting individuals who are navigating anxiety, depression, stress and trauma.
Research shows that your connection with your therapist is more important than the type of therapy that they do. With that being said I take from different modalities to serve each individual client. I utilize proven techniques such as CBT, DBT, and Trauma-Informed Care to help you achieve meaningful and lasting change.

I offer Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) as the only advanced ART practitioner in Tucson, which can help reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic pain, dyslexia, ADHD, & more in as few as 1-5 sessions.
Clients who seek my services tend to be highly intelligent, high-achieving, analytical, creative types who strive for success not just in the workplace. They may have experienced profound trauma, which did not "break" them, but instead propelled them to be the best at what they chose to pursue. Clients may struggle with perfectionism & over-functioning, and as a result find themselves in loops of rumination, maladaptive coping, difficulties in relationships, & just feeling stuck. Clients may understand their issues logically, but their nervous system and "emotional" side can't seem to catch up. Sound like you?

This wide array of experience gave me the opportunity to identify those suffering from depression, anxiety, life transitions, loss, self-worth issues, relationship problems, and other life stressors.
I utilize a client centered approach of warmth, compassion, and humor. My work with individuals includes: gaining insight, strengthening their coping and communication skills, increasing awareness of self, and thus becoming more resilient in their own lives. It is my belief that with enough intention in our lives, we can accept and create our new narrative.

As a result you may be feeling depressed, anxious, have difficulty sleeping, experiencing mood changes, have angry outbursts or perhaps you’re drinking a little too much, eating too much or too little.
The therapeutic process is one that explores your thoughts which can affect how you feel and how you react. Your feelings stem from those thoughts. It is not wrong to think and feel as you do however how you handle them can make all the difference.

I also help with parenting, attachment, self-harm, suicidality, depression, anxiety, emotional difficulties, behavioral concerns, and neurodivergence.
Resilience is adversity reframed. This statement encompasses the perspective that everyone experiences difficult times or situations, but through the storm, we can feel peace and work towards growth. Therefore, it is important that we can lean on our support systems to heal and grow from those experiences. I would be honored to be part of you or your child's journey through the storm. My hope is to help clients feel safe and accepted so they can cope with difficulties they may be struggling with.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
