Life with its transitions can be stressful and overwhelming. Even positive changes trigger distress. On this challenging path I offer my extensive training and experience to provide guidance helping you overcome obstacles to feeling better, to increase your curiosity and exploration of your self-growth, to understand yourself deeply, your relationship concerns; to make possible your working through the difficult situation. I have been successfully working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Together we identify long or short-term life difficulties such as helplessness, low self-esteem, relationship problems; we work them through, and increase satisfaction and meaning of life.

Not accepting clients. Finding a therapist is like dating, not everyone who takes you out to dinner will be “the one”. The number one factor that assist people in reaching their full potential in therapy, is the RELATIONSHIP between the Client and therapist. Ericka has a reputation of quickly establishing trust and rapport with Clients, and individuals from all walks of life. Expect a caring and energetic creative therapist, who utilizes science and humor to help you, help yourself! My ideal Clients are children, adolescents and adults ages 4-50 who may be full of energy, creativity, loudness, craziness, sadness, and even madness.

My desire is for people of all walks of life to find strength and hope in the midst of their storms. I am here to help you and your relationship Heal, Restore, and Learn. We do things and say things when we are hurt that many times we regret. Sometimes, we have a hard time accepting that we are hurt or that we have hurt others. The truth is that as humans we do not like pain, especially emotional pain; and we seek to distract, avenge or numb that pain. These efforts can become patterns and habits and some of these are blatantly wrong, but others may be more difficult to recognize.

As a professional artist and LAC with advanced training in Expressive Arts Therapy and Sandplay Therapy in the Kalffian tradition, I bring a breadth of combined training, professional and personal experience to my therapy practice. I am passionate about artistic expression and radical validation of one’s emotions and lived experiences. I believe therapy is a sacred journey towards wholeness, a return to Self. Too often harmful life experiences leave us feeling confused, stressed, traumatized and helpless, fractured within ourselves in a deep place that can be difficult to access through standard verbal therapy alone.

Do you find yourself wondering why you do what you do? Repeating the same patterns? You are not alone. In my practice, I'll guide you to learn why these things occur and what you can do to change them. We’ll take a deep dive into your childhood and reconcile the experiences you had then with the ones you’re having now. We'll take a look at how your awareness is shaped by these kinds of powerful forces and help you get to point where you can start making the types of decisions you can feel proud of.

I received my undergraduate degree from Washington State University in Speech & Hearing Sciences, (2000). Through various life experiences of my own, it became my goal to learn as much as I could about addiction and I decided to go back to school. I received a master’s degree in Addictions Counseling in 2018 from Ottawa University. Wanting to be able to work with all people, I went back to school again and have since completed a second master’s degree in counseling (2022), also from Ottawa University. I utilize an eclectic approach because everyone is different and what works for one person might not be appropriate for the next.

Hi, my name is Megan. I believe that with the right therapeutic fit, much healing is possible. Whether the problem is conflicting emotions and thoughts, feelings of worthlessness and hopelessness, or nagging feelings of self-doubt despite finding a great job or relationship, there is a solution. I am here to help you get there. When we gather up the courage to work through our past by being vulnerable with another human, we can begin to make changes-- ones that heal. The typical clients I work with are high-functioning in many areas of life yet also experience symptoms that feel difficult to manage.

Psychoanalytic Therapists
Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.
How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.
Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.
Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
