I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches including: Cognitive Behavioral, Emotionally Focused , Solution Focused, Strengths Based, and Person Centered.
It was out of my experience pursuing different professional endeavors after getting my degree in Business Marketing - small business start ups, non-profit development and management, career advisement, and teaching art workshops to adults and teens - that I discovered my passion for walking with teens, adults, and couples through counseling. This process led to my getting my Master of Arts in Counseling and has shaped a caring understanding of others who grapple with life’s challenges, disappointments, traumas, unmet longings, and distant dreams.

Along with building a meaningful and attuned therapeutic relationship, I use EMDR, EFT , and Gottman Method Couples Therapy to help you heal from trauma and improve your relationships.
Maya Angelou said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” I agree! Our stories are a part of who we are, and they shape our experiences. When we share our stories, we can heal from trauma, connect with others, and grow as individuals. I help individuals and couples explore the themes of attachment and connection in their stories, or lack thereof, which are essential to healing and growth. I use an attachment-focused lens to help you understand how your life experiences have shaped your current relationships and sense of self, so you can feel confident in your next chapter because you know the author.

Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy ( EFT ) helps couples navigate relational issues with up to a 75% success rate, making it one of the top approaches for helping partners.
I enjoy helping couples of all types heal, strengthen and enhance their relationships. By creating a warm and inviting environment through respect, humor and authentic relational connection, couples feel safe and welcome. This allows me to provide support for partners that feel lost or disconnected in their relationship and want to rediscover the love they have for each other. Feeling disconnected from our partner can cause emotional disharmony, which can greatly impact other areas of the relationship including intimacy, finances, and communication. ---------------------THERE IS HOPE!----------------------

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
