My approach to therapy is based on Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). A core idea in ACT is that trying too hard to get rid of or control our emotions tends to backfire. Instead of trying to get rid of unwanted thoughts and feelings (e.g., anxiety & depression), I will help you learn to react differently to them so that you can keep your focus on living a meaningful and fulfilling life based on what’s important to you. We will work together to set meaningful goals to address your concerns–whether they relate to life transitions, depression, anxiety, body image, grief/loss, job or academic stress, or gender & sexuality.

This is how trauma presence itself in our lives, and when it goes unaddressed it will show up as: anxiety, depression, anger, self-judgment, uncertainty, addiction and a host of other things that let’s us know we have some unhealed parts we have to attend to. It was out of my experience pursuing different professional endeavors after getting my degree in Business Marketing - small business start ups, non-profit development and management, career advisement, and teaching art workshops to adults and teens - that I discovered my passion for walking with teens, adults, and couples through counseling. This process led to my getting my Master of Arts in Counseling and has shaped a caring understanding of others who grapple with life’s challenges, disappointments, traumas, unmet longings, and distant dreams.

I specialize in working with young adults and women navigating the weight of anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma. I also support new mothers and women going through major life transitions. My goal is to support you through exploring your identity, relationships, and self-esteem. I deeply understand the need for a therapeutic space where you are genuinely seen, heard, and valued. My passion extends to exploring the transformative power of inner child work. While confronting past wounds can be challenging, I believe in the healing and growth that emerges from it.

Life is dynamic and at any point, having the support of an individual with an outside, neutral, perspective can be helpful. I like to joke that friends are great for venting to for about 15 minutes, and then their eyes may glaze over and they kind of want their turn to vent (or change the subject); with therapy you get almost an hour of identifying problems, but also solutions in a warm, supportive (evidence-based) environment.

The decision to seek therapy is usually at a difficult time in ones life. It isn't always easy, but can be life changing. As a therapist my main goal is establish a healthy therapeutic relationship with my clients. In my practice I work primarily with addictions (gambling/alcohol) and the effects on the individual and the family. I am a Licensed Psychologist who works with individuals, couples, and families.
