Are you considering therapy but have concerns about finding the "right" therapist or type of treatment? These are important considerations and the decision to seek therapy is a big step. The patient-therapist relationship is a critical component of therapy and it is important to choose as therapist that is a "good fit" for you. Every individual is unique with his/her own personal story and goals. Therefore, therapy must be tailored to the individual. I have training and experience in multiple therapeutic approaches (CBT, REBT, DBT,
psychodynamic
)

Life isn't always easy to deal with. The way we think, feel, and behave directly affect how we handle a certain situation. The relationships we have has a huge influence in our lives. I am here to help you through your life journey by helping you set clear boundaries with others, helping you overcome challenges, and helping you find your inner strength. I can help you create appropriate coping skills and gain more awareness in your life. My goal is to empower you and watch you grow into your highest potential. Together, we can create goals and work hard to reach those goals. All you have to do is try.

Together with several colleagues, I founded the Southwest Center for Psychoanalytic Studies, the goal of which was to train
psychodynamic
therapists in the southwest part of the U.
I offer an initial consultation at no charge. You can find out more about the psychoanalytic process, get a sense of who I am, and this will give us the opportunity to determine together what could be helpful. My psychoanalytic training was done with Anna Freud and her colleagues at the Anna Freud Centre in London (Hampstead Clinic).

I use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and
psychodynamic
therapy modalities.
I bring space for my clients through a warm, welcoming, and non-judgemental as well as unconditional lens. Sometimes it can be figuring out your true identity and what drives you to do the things you do, other times it can be day to day issues. My goal in therapy is to provide a safe space to my clients to feel heard and understood. It's hard in everyday life to overcome the challenges that our mind creates, and I hope to help clients work through the issues that comes with being human and living in today's society.

What does thriving mean to you? Each of us are on a journey toward thriving. Sometimes we get interrupted along the way by anxiety, fear, rejection, anger, sadness, and resentment. When we feel uncertain or stuck we might experience disconnection, lack of purpose, and loss of meaning. In such times, therapy offers a safe place to be heard, a trusted person to unpack our stories with, and a method for traveling through the layers of life’s ups and downs. I believe strongly that this present moment is an avenue for creating growth and change, that’s why I deeply value the transformative potential of therapy.

I tend to lean
psychodynamic
theory so that we can look at the root causes rather than just deal with the symptoms.
I thrive working with clients learning to understand and heal from addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety, church hurt, individuals questioning sexuality, persons working through career transitions, and couples navigating how to communicate and deepen emotional and physical intimacy. My aim is to provide a space where you can connect with yourself, feel accepted, whole, and human, and a place where you can learn to thrive again.

I utilize a variety of techniques and skills drawn from recognized therapeutic modalities including but not limited to
Psychodynamic
, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma-Informed Care (CCTSI), EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and relaxation.
Taking this first big step and going to therapy can seem impossible but as someone who has been in your shoes, I encourage you to find the courage to show up for yourself. You will learn a lot about yourself in therapy but more importantly, you will unlearn so much more. My goal is to create a safe space where you can process your thoughts and feelings and understand the purpose of your behaviors. I work with my clients to identify and unlearn self-limiting core beliefs such as feelings of not being good enough, fear of failure, and perfectionism. I hope you decide to take this leap and choose you because if not you, then who?

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
