Many parents feel stuck, exhausted, and unsure how to help, while children and teens struggle to understand or manage what they're feeling.
The treatment approach is evidence-based and integrative, drawing from CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, and family systems interventions. In addition to therapy, I offer comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations and collaborate with a licensed neuropsychologist who provides neuropsychological and forensic evaluations, when more in-depth assessment is needed.

As a parent to two teenagers, I know how challenging it can be to raise kids right now.
Hi I'm Jodi! I'm so glad you're here! I'm an Arizona native with over 25 years of professional experience working with families and kids kindergarten-college. My career path has led me through schools, non-profits and beyond. Still, everything I cherish about this work comes from what I learned working at sleep-away camp... 1. Making messes teaches us how to clean up. 2. Discomfort is necessary for growth. 3. Trusting ourselves teaches us limits and shows us what we are capable of. 4. We don't get anywhere without advocating for ourselves. 5. Nothing is more delicious than grilled cheese and tomato soup.

One of the most crucial parts of the therapeutic process is connection. Having a space where you feel understood and not judged is foundational, especially in these times. We all have a unique history and journey- no two experiences are alike. I incorporate both an INDIVIDUALIZED and WHOLISTIC approach to therapy, geared towards considering the whole person, identifying how each part affects and influences the other. We will work on clearly identifing goals and measuring your progress. Together we can do this by practicing the principle of HOPE, as I believe almost everything in life is "figure-out-able."

I currently offer Parenting the Chaos education program and Focused Parenting Program therapy package both virtually and in person.
I believe it is essential to bring families together in the therapy room to help parents better understand the impact of their child's atypical development on any presenting concerns through psychoeducation. Addiction is a family disease; meaning it doesn’t only affect the one individual with the addiction, the other family members feel the shockwaves too. My family continues to feel the impact of losing our son 11 years ago, so it is meaningful to me to help others avoid that struggle. I am honored to be able to combine my personal experience with the clinical background to enable families to better support the recovery of their loved ones. I am equally devoted to helping individuals with their recovery and personal growth journeys.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
