Trauma leaves us feeling constantly fearful or numb. The stress and tension in our bodies persist even when there is "nothing is wrong." You may be exhausted from feeling this way but powerless to change because no one seems to understand, and nothing seems to work. Whether you’ve been to countless medical professionals searching for answers or this is your first-time considering therapy, you are ready for some relief. You are ready to let go of anxiety and depression dictating your choices. You are ready to wake up in the morning with a sense of hope rather than dread. Most of all, you are ready to get YOU back.

in Clinical Psychology informs a relational, neurobiological approach to depression, anxiety, trauma .
Life prompts us toward growth and health, which leads us to change thoughts, feelings, behaviors, or beliefs that keep us from peace and joy. Difficult childhood or adult experiences may disrupt our ability to connect well with our emotions and deepest heart's desires, making it challenging to have satisfying, healthy relationships. For 20 years I have been helping individuals and couples to heal old wounds, grow past outworn patterns into greater freedom and heart to heart connections. Are you ready to answer life's call to grow? I offer myself as a trustworthy companion in the next phase of your life's journey.

I have worked with individuals, families, and couples struggling with trauma , sexuality, eating disorders, domestic violence, anxiety, and depression.
You may have landed on this professional profile because you are taking stock of your life and realize that the life you have is not the one you envisioned for yourself. Whether you are bored or in a lot of pain, you may be seeking growth and change, possibly a sense of aliveness. Counseling can be a safe, nurturing setting to slow down and listen to your soul and your body. As you become aware of yourself, you begin to understand how you got to where you are, why you do what you do, and what new paths are possible to you. As a trained therapist from a relational-psychodynamic perspective, I see therapy as a collaborative process.

I’ve found that the most valuable currency is being the most true version of ourselves. Anxiety, Trauma , Depression, Grief & Abuse can make it challenging to stay on your best path. Maybe ambition is lost, or a compass is broken through no fault of our own. Perhaps you're experiencing lack of sleep, lack of self-care, lack of motivation, intrusive thoughts, diminishing personal connections, avoiding social engagements, over/under eating, or removing ourselves from the ones you love.

I am a Behavioral Health Psychologist and LPC, that works with adults, adolescents, and children that have experienced trauma . Sometimes, our traumatic experiences can leave a wound that interferes with our ability to connect with ourselves, others, and the world. Often, we can feel incredibly isolated and misunderstood in our pain. Working with trauma includes building safety with the person, providing warmth and stability in the environment, and consistency in their treatment. While you may feel like there is no hope, there are gentle and effective ways, that we can work together to find, that will support your healing.

My experience includes working with issues related to trauma and abuse, spiritual integration, grief and loss, and relationships.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, my desire is to partner with clients to help them find hope and healing. Using evidenced-based treatments, I strive to be a light in the lives of my clients and provide them with insights and tools that will help them to accomplish their goals. Specific therapeutic approaches are important, and the unique relationship between client and counselor is also a major factor in the healing process. It is important to counsel the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. As a Christian, my beliefs guide me as I care for my clients.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
