One of the biggest factors in successful therapy is the relationship between the client and therapist. Ericka is known for quickly building trust and rapport with clients from all walks of life, creating a space where people feel safe, supported, and understood. Clients can expect a caring, energetic, and creative therapist who uses both science and humor to help people better understand themselves and reach their full potential. Authenticity is a key component of my life philosophy and my therapeutic treatment philosophy. Being real, genuine, and vulnerable are critical components of any healthy relationship be it with yourself or others. People are often too quick to condemn themselves and struggle to realize their own potential out of fear. There is no judgment here. No right or wrong ways, no lanes to stay in. Only you and your needs. Whatever it is that you are working through or need to work through you do not have to face it alone or suffer in silence anymore. I am here and as a natural-born healer.

Currently only accepting assessment clients. Is your child slipping academically? Do you find yourself frustrated completing homework with them? Are you constantly arguing with your child or teenager about going to school? Do you witness your child having similar difficulties you did as a child? There are many potential roots to these issues. For example, your child may have a hidden learning disability. He or she may have difficulty concentrating despite appearing to be paying attention. School may be a source of anxiety. Through evaluations, we can work together as a team to determine your child’s unique strengths and weaknesses.

“The decision to work with a psychologist may feel daunting. By doing so, you are taking a risk in choosing to share your vulnerabilities with me. I have the utmost respect for this decision and appreciate how challenging it may be. You may feel afraid to disclose some of your deepest insecurities in therapy. You may be thinking, ‘where do I even begin?’ You can rest assured that you are in a safe space with me. My goal is to meet you where you are and to work together collaboratively. After all, two heads are better than one.”

Testing and Evaluation Therapists
What is a psychological evaluation?
A psychological evaluation is a test or assessment most commonly administered by a trained psychologist that is intended to be used in the diagnosis of specific psychological conditions, such as ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, dementia or Alzheimer's, and learning disabilities. Psychological evaluations can help inform future treatment decisions and help direct clients to professionals and resources that may be most helpful, such as potential therapy options or additional school supports.

Can psychological evaluations be done on individuals of any age group?
Psychological evaluations are conducted on individuals of all ages and can be beneficial to individuals across the lifespan. However, specific types of evaluations may be most frequently conducted on individuals of certain age groups. For instance, ADHD or learning disability testing is often conducted in children ages 4-12--the period of time when ADHD symptoms most commonly emerge. In contrast, cognitive functioning assessments, such as those conducted to diagnose dementia, are most commonly conducted in elderly individuals. Clients should ensure that the psychologist they are seeing has specific expertise in conducting evaluations in their age group to ensure they receive a correct diagnosis.

How long does a psychological evaluation take?
Psychological evaluations vary in length depending on the test being administered and the goals of the evaluation; however, most evaluations are 2-4 hours in length. Some evaluations may take as long as 8 hours but can often be spread across multiple days. In some cases, clients will also attend an intake session or interview, which can help the psychologist assess client functioning outside of the testing environment.

How should I prepare for a psychological test and evaluation?
Individuals do not need to prepare for psychological tests or evaluations in most cases, as they are intended to measure a client's baseline psychological status without test-specific preparation. However, clients may want to brainstorm a list of questions for their psychologist about any tests they are receiving prior to the assessment, including what potential outcomes may mean for what next steps the client should take.
