I often work with clients who are re-examining beliefs and identity, which may or may not be impacted by religious trauma and topics of spirituality.
I help people cultivate more meaningful connections with themselves, others, and their world. I help adult individuals and couples more effectively navigate interpersonal conflicts, non-monogamy exploration, existential anxiety, life transitions, depression, and religious trauma. Being a human in the world is a wild, heavy, complicated experience. You deserve a space that honors your whole Self—mind, body, and spirit. My approach is holistic and deeply affirming of LGBTQIA+, poly, kink, BIPOC, and neurodivergent communities. My goal is to understand your unique story, identity, and way of making sense of your experiences.

Seeking a therapist can be an unsettling endeavor. I can provide a free 10-minute phone consultation to help you determine whether or not we are a good fit. As your therapist, I bring a whole-person approach to healing the past and maximizing the present. My approach is an eclectic one and with over 30 years counseling experience, my "toolbox" is "well-stocked". We all have our own intuitive wisdom to guide us but we may need help in learning how to hear and honor these messages. I am confident that we can work collaboratively to create the life that you desire.

You may feel stuck in patterns you don’t fully understand. Maybe you keep having the same conflicts in relationships, reacting more strongly than you want, or feeling disconnected even when life looks fine on the outside. Many people carry unresolved trauma, shame, or relational wounds that continue to shape how they think, feel, and connect with others. My clients want deeper understanding of themselves, healthier relationships, and the ability to feel calm, grounded, and emotionally free rather than controlled by the past.

Hello, my work specializes in trauma informed care and spiritually focused counseling. I am trained in EMDR and Somatic Experiencing. I have learned throughout the years that thorough healing comes not only from addressing our wounds and traumas but from a deep exploration of what we have decided about ourselves and our place in the world. I am highly valued as a compassionate, competent therapist who will provide understanding and skills that support moving through and coping with traumatic events/responses recent and past, and the spiritual evolution born out of traumatic wounds.

NOW accepting patients online throughout AZ! You feel things deeply. You’ve been told you’re “too sensitive” or “overreacting,” and you’re tired of trying to fit into systems—whether religious, social, or recovery-based—that never quite saw you. Maybe you’re navigating trauma, struggling with substance use but not resonating with 12-step models, or finding your way after leaving a high-control faith like Mormonism. You want to feel like yourself again—grounded, real, and connected to something true. You don’t want surface-level advice. You want therapy that makes space for all of you, even the parts that feel messy or uncertain.

I have specialized training in the areas of spirituality, LGBTQ issues, and trauma, and I work from an existential, person-centered, and Adlerian perspective.
I work with adolescents and adults who suffer from trauma or identity issues looking to eliminate suicidal thoughts and reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts and/or hallucinations. I help clients understand their symptoms and learn methods of coping. I also encourage clients to create meaning for their experiences and grow as a result. I assist clients in assigning meaning to hallucinations and/or intrusive thoughts so that they can use appropriate methods to take back control, including use of client's spiritual beliefs and practices as well as CBT and DBT methods.

Authenticity is a key component of my life philosophy and my therapeutic treatment philosophy. Being real, genuine, and vulnerable are critical components of any healthy relationship be it with yourself or others. People are often too quick to condemn themselves and struggle to realize their own potential out of fear. There is no judgment here. No right or wrong ways, no lanes to stay in. Only you and your needs. Whatever it is that you are working through or need to work through you do not have to face it alone or suffer in silence anymore. I am here and as a natural-born healer.

Spirituality Therapists
What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
