You may have landed on this professional profile because you are taking stock of your life and realize that the life you have is not the one you envisioned for yourself. Whether you are bored or in a lot of pain, you may be seeking growth and change, possibly a sense of aliveness. Counseling can be a safe, nurturing setting to slow down and listen to your soul and your body. As you become aware of yourself, you begin to understand how you got to where you are, why you do what you do, and what new paths are possible to you. As a trained therapist from a relational- psychodynamic perspective, I see therapy as a collaborative process.

I work with people using a variety of philosophies, but those encompassing humanistic and psychodynamic theories inform most of my thoughts related to psychotherapy. This generally means I am most interested in focusing on emotions, insight, relationships, past experiences, meta-emotion, self-worth, and authenticity. I rely heavily on discussing shame, vulnerability, emotional needs, and creating meaning in life. My work is fairly non-directive, and I will be most focused on helping you find your own authentic path by reflecting and exploring deeper meanings and patterns that arise in our discussions.

Although I primarily practice through a psychodynamic foundation, I offer approaches that support healing from trauma through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), as well as creating healthier relationships through Attachment-Based Therapy, and helping you manage and break free from eating disorders through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
If you are here, I imagine you may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or you are unsure what you may be feeling. Whether you have been to therapy before or considering trying it for the first time, I am committed to helping you identify and remove the barriers of eating disorders, trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction, life transitions, relationship issues, and problematic sexual behaviors. I will work with you to remove these barriers by establishing a safe, empathetic, and supportive environment. In addition, I will work to facilitate a strong therapeutic relationship, which I find to be a catalyst of change.

After many years of my own psychotherapy with several different behavioral health practitioners, I am grateful for their reaching out to me with their intelligence, experience and empathy. The majority of my patients seeking psychotherapy complain and often exhibit signs of depression or anxiety, and often both. They often have difficulty throughout the day and night, having trouble concentrating with fatigue and poor short-term memory, with persistent eating issues, and hypersomnia and or insomnia, worsening their condition. My treatment techniques include psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused.

Who looks outside dreams. Who looks inside awakens, quote C.G. Jung. I am a doctor in depth psychology with a psychodynamic therapeutic approach. If you notice behaviors, thoughts, or feelings interfering with your life creating depression, anxiety, etc. even addiction, we will work on your insights, and increase your self-awareness regarding intentions and/or behaviors that no longer serve any purpose in your life. Maybe you have long-standing negative beliefs and reactions repeating themselves, hiding in traumatic experiences. Perhaps ongoing questions demand deeper answers. In collaboration we will work on reaching your goal.

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral principles (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy and Mindfulness to help individuals cope, heal and improve overall well-being.
I value working with adults and couples navigating life stressors, and needing additional support. My work is grounded in helping individuals recognize recurring patterns, gain insight into how they may be contributing to present-day problems and heal emotional wounds. It is also my goal to help individuals gain awareness into the links between thoughts, emotions and behaviors that may be contributing to distress. I tailor my therapeutic approach to the needs of my clients and create a space that promotes trust, growth, and openness. My passion is embedded in helping you, help yourself.

I use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and psychodynamic therapy modalities.
I bring space for my clients through a warm, welcoming, and non-judgemental as well as unconditional lens. Sometimes it can be figuring out your true identity and what drives you to do the things you do, other times it can be day to day issues. My goal in therapy is to provide a safe space to my clients to feel heard and understood. It's hard in everyday life to overcome the challenges that our mind creates, and I hope to help clients work through the issues that comes with being human and living in today's society.

I am currently accepting new patients! My therapy style is warm, accepting, and active. I don't expect you to start therapy knowing exactly what you need - I'm here to help you figure it out! My approach is rooted in cognitive-behavioral therapy, but I creatively integrate DBT, trauma work, and psychodynamic therapy depending on your needs and preferences. I see our work together as a collaboration and I care deeply about your unique goals and strengths. I want to help you carry whatever it is that's weighing on you, and work toward solutions together. I truly look forward to working with you.

My approach is psychodynamic (your unconscious mind & feelings matter!) and may integrate mindfulness, ACT therapy, boundary work, body-tracking, spiritual beliefs, dreams, or coaching.
Crises and life transitions tend to spotlight where we need to grow. I have two typical clients. One is interested in ongoing psychotherapy and has often (though not necessarily) been in therapy before. The other is looking for shorter-term work (12-16 weeks) to sort through a decision or transition (relationship, career, new diagnosis, etc.) Depression, anxiety, "stuckness" or "emptiness" often inspire people to call, and I work with adults of all backgrounds. I have niche experience with Autistic people & ADHD from a neurodiversity perspective; people with chronic illness; and healthcare & mental health professionals.

Are you considering therapy but have concerns about finding the "right" therapist or type of treatment? These are important considerations and the decision to seek therapy is a big step. The patient-therapist relationship is a critical component of therapy and it is important to choose as therapist that is a "good fit" for you. Every individual is unique with his/her own personal story and goals. Therefore, therapy must be tailored to the individual. I have training and experience in multiple therapeutic approaches (CBT, REBT, DBT, psychodynamic )

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
