I specialize in treating OCD and all forms of anxiety using the most effective evidence-based approaches available, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Exposure Therapy.
Maybe you’re mentally exhausted. Stuck in your head. It’s like your brain just won’t give you a break, constantly looping with intrusive thoughts, what-ifs, worst-case scenarios, and the desperate urge to feel “just right” or certain. Maybe it shows up as endless checking, repeating, washing, avoiding triggers, or reassurance seeking. Or maybe your anxiety and distress show up in silence, quiet but tormenting rumination and endless self-monitoring that no one else can see. You’re not weak or crazy, you’re dealing with a real condition. And with the right treatment, it can get better. A lot better!

While I use a variety of therapy interventions and techniques personalized to each individual, the combination of ERP and ACT in the treatment of OCD, phobia, and anxiety is particularly efficient and effective.
Hello, I'm Laura, and I help people take their lives back from fear and chronic self-doubt. If you're here, you might often feel like worry and doubt are controlling your life. You may feel the urge to perform certain rituals or behaviors to ease your distress, or perhaps you're caught in a mental tug-of-war, unable to decide. No amount of reassurance seems to ease your mind for long. Your hobbies, work, and relationships might be feeling the strain. Despite your best efforts to feel better, you feel more trapped, exhausted, and alone.

I have training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD, and EMDR.
I work with individuals navigating depression, anxiety, obsessions, and trauma. Many of my clients have tried traditional approaches and are looking for a new way to move forward—one that focuses less on fighting symptoms and more on building a meaningful life. I help clients change how they relate to painful thoughts, emotions, and memories, rather than trying to eliminate them. Together, we build compassion, flexibility and take steps toward a life guided by your values.

I know what helps anxiety and OCD, and I know what makes it worse.
Feeling worried much of the time, having panic attacks, and feeling so overwhelmed by your thoughts can be exhausting. My clients often find themselves in this loop of having debilitating thoughts, needing to get rid of them, keeping track of what triggers anxiety so they can avoid it, and yet the worry seems to grow even stronger. And eventually, they are beyond frustrated that these worries seem to be taking over their life. Some thoughts can be about contamination or health, fear of harming others, anxiety related to social situations or morality. Whatever it is, the fears interfere with what's most important to them.

My specialty areas include OCD and anxiety disorders; however, I have years of experience treating a broad range of difficulties.
I believe that this life is meant to be lived fully and freely in every moment. It is a simple concept, but sometimes so difficult to experience as our thoughts keep us held in the past or our fears spiral us into the future. You may feel completely trapped in a cycle of unhealthy thoughts and behaviors and sense you're losing control. Sometimes we struggle getting lost in heartache or pain and forget what life can look like on the other side. I have a genuine passion for coming alongside each person to help rediscover a full and free life with all of its wonders and difficulties.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
