Marriage Counseling Therapists in Phoenix, AZ
As a Christian Relational Therapist, I help women navigate this exact tension — combining biblical wisdom, brain-based tools, and practical relational skills to:
Reconnect with God and your own emotional truth
Set boundaries without guilt
Heal patterns of fear and people-pleasing
Create safer, deeper connection in marriage and beyond
Our Christian faith teaches us love, sacrifice, and service — all beautiful and necessary things. But many women internalize these messages in ways that lead them to silence their own needs, override their intuition, and over-function in relationships that leave them emotionally starved. This might look like avoiding conflict to "keep the peace", becoming the emotional manager of the household, feeling unseen or emotionally neglected- but unsure how to express it,

I received my undergraduate degree from Stanford University and my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Seminary.
I have advanced training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a trauma-sensitive model that seeks to help people heal from trauma and attachment injury. It facilitates releasing trauma that is held in the body and allows people to access additional pathways to healing by understanding how their body responds to stress and physical/emotional pain.

Maybe coming to therapy is an easy, intuitive next step for you. You know and trust yourself to find just the right counselor. You know what you need from therapy to support your relationships, career/life satisfaction, self-care needs, or trauma recovery. I trust your inner wisdom and can’t wait to collaborate with you. Or, maybe you’re more tentative about this whole “therapy” thing. Life may have taught you that trust is precious–that reaching out for support could be dangerous. You may have even gotten the message not to believe in or advocate for yourself. Well, this might be a surprise: I also trust *your* inner wisdom.

My work focuses on embodiment, nervous system awareness, and the integration of emotional and energetic experiences in a grounded, practical way. I support individuals who are moving through grief, life transitions, identity shifts, or periods of increased sensitivity and awareness, and who want to remain stable, present, and self-connected throughout that process.
I take a body-based approach, helping clients notice and respond to physiological cues, emotional patterns, and energetic boundaries as they arise. Rather than emphasizing catharsis or rapid change, my work prioritizes regulation, containment, and sustainable integration

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.
How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.
Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.
Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
