I'm a Prepare & Enrich facilitator for Pre-
marital
support,
Marital
check-ups, & Parenting style assessments for family issues.
History shows us that at some point during our lives, we will all need some form of help. So, if we take our legal needs to Lawyers, medical needs to Doctors, why wouldn't we take our mental & emotional needs to a Therapist? Journeying through life can often be confusing & challenging. Life is all about connection to ourselves, a spouse, families or Creator. Connection takes work! So, when we've run out of resources to deal with issues, we often feel lost. I'm passionate about supporting individuals, couples, & families address challenges associated with life & trauma, because nobody effortlessly waltzes into great relationships.

My work is exclusively as a couples therapist using the most-effective approach, Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, or EFT. I believe there's a distinct difference between a
marriage
-counseling specialist and a therapist who "also" works with couples. This singular focus enables me to bring to my couples work years of experience and a depth of practice helping couples resolve a complexity of challenges, including infidelity, sexual disconnection, endless arguing and differences related to parenting and finances. EFT is both gentle and effective; neither partner is favored or judged. A brief model, EFT offers lasting results.

I’m a
marriage
and family therapist with extensive training and experience in couples, individual, and family counseling.
Tell me if this sounds familiar— you and your partner aren’t seeing eye-to-eye on an issue. This turns into a frustrating argument with hurt feelings, and one of you wants to fix things right now, while the other wants a break. In the meantime, both of you feel unheard and are becoming more disconnected from each other. Maybe you aren’t struggling in a relationship, but you don’t have motivation or excitement in life. You have tried pushing through hard days, but it doesn’t seem to be working and you want a new path forward. Whatever your road to arrive on my profile, I am so glad you did. Let me explain how I might be able to help.

Welcome! I'm Jason, and I specialize in working with men and couples. My practice, Phoenix Men's Counseling, helps work with men just like you (or your husband, partner, or relative) with the issues that guys struggle with most, such as stress, depression, cheating,
marriage
/relationship issues, "nice guy" syndrome (guys who have a hard time saying 'no'), anger, and emotional intimacy, among others. As a guy, I know what men deal with, and work to create a counseling environment that men can relate to, feel heard and find new solutions to their problems. I have 20 years experience working with men.

There are times in our lives when we need help restoring our relationships. As a therapist with 30 years of
marriage
experience, and significant clinical training, I believe working together I can help you reach your goals. As a therapist I have seen that two things seem to be necessary to start the healing process, mercy and empathy. When a person experiences mercy, it opens them up to experiencing empathy for the other. Using Gottman Method Couples therapy as the foundation, I will work together with you to accomplish the restoration of your relationship.

How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.
How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.
Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.
Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
