My work is exclusively as a couples therapist using the most-effective approach, Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, or EFT. I believe there's a distinct difference between a marriage-counseling specialist and a therapist who "also" works with couples. This singular focus enables me to bring to my couples work years of experience and a depth of practice helping couples resolve a complexity of challenges, including
infidelity
, sexual disconnection, endless arguing and differences related to parenting and finances. EFT is both gentle and effective; neither partner is favored or judged. A brief model, EFT offers lasting results.

Great Relationships aren’t great because they have no challenges or struggles. Great relationships are great because individuals choose to find a way to make the relationship work. Sometimes, that includes relationship/family counseling. As a family and relationship therapist, I am here to help you work through the many challenges and struggles that often prevent couples/families from moving forward. I believe in individualizing treatment to help each family member/partner feel heard and loved.

Often times people lie to cover up the
betrayal
so it’s
betrayal
upon
betrayal
.
You said you would never stay with someone who cheated. You can’t believe he did this. It's like a nightmare. You are considering divorce but you want to believe him and deep down you want to get through this if it’s possible. You thought you knew him. Could it be possible he loves you like he says he does when he hurt you like this? Did he even consider you? It’s embarrassing to bring this up to anyone. You wonder if people will judge you if you stay and will they ever be able to see him in the same light if you tell people and are able to work it out? You have already talked for hours and don't know how you can get through this.

Welcome! I'm Jason, and I specialize in working with men and couples. My practice, Phoenix Men's Counseling, helps work with men just like you (or your husband, partner, or relative) with the issues that guys struggle with most, such as stress, depression,
cheating
, marriage/relationship issues, "nice guy" syndrome (guys who have a hard time saying 'no'), anger, and emotional intimacy, among others. As a guy, I know what men deal with, and work to create a counseling environment that men can relate to, feel heard and find new solutions to their problems. Infidelity Therapists
How does therapy for infidelity work?
A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.
How long does therapy for infidelity take?
Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.
How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?
When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.
How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?
Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
