My approaches are strength-based and include cognitive behavioral, emotionally focused , trauma- focused/ somatic, and existential components.
Acceptance isn't something that many of us experience, instead we spend a good amount of life feeling broken, less than, or just not as valuable as the other humans. We get trapped in regular thoughts of why others are so much better than us or seem to “do life” with far less problems. Who we are and why we matter? are not questions we ask ourselves if we have already decided we have little or no worth. Our lives and relationships suffer because of this lack of self, feeling misunderstood, or not feeling wanted. I look forward to helping you in your struggle to connect and have meaningful relationships with yourself and others.

Because therapy is not "one-size-fits-all", her therapeutic method draws from a variety of highly researched and evidence based approaches such as CBT, EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Gottman.
Aubrey utilizes a holistic view while embracing each persons unique experiences and individuality. Many of us feel overwhelmed, stuck, stressed, anxious, worried, angry, hopeless, or sad at times. Sometimes we struggle with changes like moving, having a baby, starting school, starting a new job, or losing a loved one (pets included). Some of us have had distressing experiences or something traumatic happen. Or perhaps we are having difficulty in a relationship with family, friends, dating, partner, or spouse. Aubrey works with you to find the most effective techniques and skills to support in facing challenges and finding relief.

I take a strengths-based approach in providing Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
Individuals and couples see me upon experiencing a variety of issues pertaining to life transitions with career or family, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, processing trauma, self esteem, sexual assault/domestic violence, spirituality, substance abuse, and insomnia. Clients come to therapy seeking a space to process difficult emotions with a trusted, empathic therapist who works to not only listen but also understand their experiences. The desire to be truly seen, heard, and accepted is a powerful but rare human phenomenon. My priority is for clients to feel secure in expressing their suffering as well as their longings.

I provide treatment in diverse evidence-based practices, which include the following: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
The decision to work with a therapist may feel daunting. By doing so, you are taking a risk in choosing to share your vulnerabilities with me. I have the utmost respect for this decision and appreciate how challenging it may be. You may feel afraid to disclose some of your deepest insecurities in therapy. You may be thinking, “where do I even begin?” You can rest assured that you are in a safe space with me. My goal is to meet you where you are and to work together collaboratively. After all, two heads are better than one.

I use evidence-based methods like Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and EMDR to provide you with the results you want.
So much of the pain and stress many of us deal with on a daily basis stems from disconnection in relationships with our partner, family, or friends. I work with clients from all walks of life, with an emphasis on couples and individuals who are experiencing feelings of rejection, shame, and worthlessness in relationships. If you feel that being yourself is never good enough, if you are struggling to express your needs, beliefs, or feelings, or if there’s a relationship issue you can't seem to resolve, I want to work with you to achieve a lasting sense of relief.

I have completed my EFT ( Emotionally Focused Therapy) Externship with Sue Johnson, founder of EFT.
“It’s just not working. Maybe we aren’t meant to be. It shouldn’t be this hard. I just need my space. Nothing I do is ever good enough. I feel like we’re just roommates." These are some of the statements that bring us to our knees in relationships, and hopefully get us in the door to therapy. As humans, we are biologically wired to connect with others. Since conception, we have some level of dependency that our society just expects us to “grow out of” as we age. While in reality, we need a secure relationship with another to feel comfortable enough to take necessary risks in our individual lives.

I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy and incorporate this into work with couples and families.
Great Relationships aren’t great because they have no challenges or struggles. Great relationships are great because individuals choose to find a way to make the relationship work. Sometimes, that includes relationship/family counseling. As a family and relationship therapist, I am here to help you work through the many challenges and struggles that often prevent couples/families from moving forward. I believe in individualizing treatment to help each family member/partner feel heard and loved.

I am a trauma informed therapist and use an integrative approach that incorporates Attachment Theory, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman Method, and Mindfulness.
Have you reached a point in life where it seems that something needs to change in order for you to be truly happy? Maybe you can't quite put your finger on it, or perhaps you thought you left it behind years ago. If you are living with depression, anxiety, unsatisfying relationships, addiction, or unresolved grief or trauma - there is hope and there is help. I strive to provide an honest, warm and collaborative environment so that you can feel safe embarking on your journey of self-exploration, healing and growth. This isn't easy work, but I truly believe that it is the most important work we can do for ourselves.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an approach to therapy that helps clients identify their emotions, learn to explore and experience them, to understand them and then to manage them. Emotionally Focused Therapy embraces the idea that emotions can be changed, first by arriving at or 'living' the maladaptive emotion (e.g. loss, fear or shame) in session, and then learning to transform it. Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples seeks to break the negative emotion cycles within relationships, emphasizing the importance of the attachment bond between couples, and how nurturing of the attachment bonds and an empathetic understanding of each others emotions can break the cycles.
