In my many years being a therapist I also help those with Bipolar disorder, Anxiety, ADHD, Depression, Autism, and substance abuse.
I aim to build a caring and safe environment to help you navigate your feelings, heal old wounds, and build useful tools for coping with life’s challenges. I offer a warm, supportive space where you can feel understood. I work to create a space for healing and explore what’s beneath the surface. In session we will work to build tools to assist in helping you feel more stable. You don’t have to do this alone. I provide treatment and assessment of multiple conditions, helping clients achieve greater emotional stability. I believe that there is always a silver lining with an opportunity to reconnect with yourself in a meaningful way.

Life is messy and unpredictable—kind of like that junk drawer we all have. Sometimes stress and tough stuff pile up, and it feels like you’re carrying the world on your shoulders. Meanwhile, friends and family seem to have it all together (or at least fake it well). Here you are, juggling stress, sadness, anxiety, and anger, thinking no one really “gets it.” But you’re not alone—I’ve been there, we all have. I’m excited to help you sort through the mess and find your footing again. We’ll tackle it together—mess and all.

I believe in order to complete any task; we must commit to the work towards change. Healing is a personal journey, and while we may need help and guidance along the way, we are ultimately responsible in how we participate regarding the outcome. There are no perfect therapist or perfect clients, but there are opportunities to build a therapeutic foundation that can assist a person in getting on the right path.

I specialize in mood disorders, MDD, bipolar disorder, anxiety, BPD, substance use, and co-occurring concerns.
Life rarely falls apart all at once, it builds quietly until everything feels like too much. When things feel heavy, confusing, or stuck, you don’t have to work through it alone. Therapy with me is a collaborative space where you can show up as you are and speak openly about stress, past experiences, or relationship challenges. Our work is grounded, approachable, and human, allowing honest conversation while still creating meaningful change. I take a warm, non-judgmental, holistic, and down-to-earth approach. Your comfort and sense of safety matter, and I bring professional training and lived experience to help you feel understood.

I have specialized experience in working with Bipolar Disorder.
Are you looking for a nonjudgmental, safe space to learn skills to feel better? Clients that seek me out are often looking for support in managing intense emotions like anxiety, depression, and mania. They often feel powerless over their feelings. For children and teens, sometimes this is observed through behaviors like isolation, acting out, or self-harming. Many times they wish there was a magic pill that could just solve all their problems so they could not feel like they are simply surviving. As we work together we will improve coping skills, connect with meaning and purpose, manage distress and create a more fulfilling life.

Bipolar Disorder Therapists
What is the most successful approach to treating bipolar disorder?
Living with bipolar disorder can be challenging, and a number of therapies have been found effective in providing support to patients as they gain the skills to understand and manage the disorder. Family-focused therapy is often helpful for children and teens (the majority of cases develop before age 19); it aims to minimize mood cycling by improving family communication and reducing conflict. It also helps young people navigate the developmental challenges the disorder can create. Cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) and variants such as Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)help patients manage the thoughts and feelings that influence bipolar mood swings as well as develop specific behavioral strategies to counteract them.

What happens in therapy for bipolar disorder?
Because the patterns of mood switching and its triggers differ for each person and can change over time, mood tracking or monitoring becomes a basic way patients learn about the nature of their condition. One of the most common features of therapy is finding a workable method of mood monitoring, in which patients track their daily activities and rate their moods, then use the findings to adjust routines accordingly. Patients learn ways of handling the many stresses that arise in life so that they do not trigger mood swings.

What kinds of problems does therapy help with?
Like many other mental health disorders, BPD is heavily influenced by stress; therapy provides skills for coping with stressors of all kinds. Therapy is extremely important for helping individuals identify the situations that may trigger mood switching, so that mood swings can be prevented. Therapy may especially target recognition of the early stages of mood change so that they can be managed. In addition, therapy helps patients deal with the significant amount of turbulence the disorder can create in relationships and in work life.

What is the goal of therapy for bipolar disorder?
Therapy helps patients set up their lives to maintain stability so that their mood isn’t constantly threatened by daily events. Perhaps the first task of therapy is to educate people about the nature of the disorder. At the same time, a primary goal of therapy is to enhance adherence to drug treatment. Extended periods of mood stability can prompt patients to discontinue medication, triggering relapse, while the early phases of manic episodes can feel so energizing that patients stop medication, ushering in full-blown mania and the altered self-perception that can lead to destructive behaviors. Another major goal of therapy is to understand one’s mood patterns so as to minimize both the frequency and intensity of mood cycling.
