My ideal client is a neurodivergent adolescent or adult—someone who may have a diagnosis such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, or another neurodevelopmental condition—and is navigating a world not always designed for how they think, process, or engage.
Through specialized training in Play Therapy, AutPlay Therapy, and as an Advanced Certified Autism Specialist, I am equipped to support both children and adults across the neurodivergent spectrum. For children and teens, I use play-based and creative interventions that help process emotions, improve regulation, and build social confidence.

So I became the type of therapist that I needed and didn't have as a kid, teenager, and young adult.
Struggling with RSD? Anxiety? Overstimulation? Procrastination? Depression? Motivation? Need a body double so you can get things done? Being an adult is tough and I still catch myself looking for the "adultiest" adult in the room, only to find it's me! Let's talk about it and figure out a plan together. Your therapist should respect your autonomy, ask questions instead of making assumptions, and challenge you to look deeper and make connections. Let's build up your self-esteem, help you feel better in social situations, minimize your anxiety, learn how to communicate and set boundaries, deal with past trauma, or just enjoy life!

Maybe your child or teen is having new behaviors, tantrums, isolation, or difficulty with connection.
My approach is focused in relationship building and trust because I recognize the value of connection in the healing journey. I am trained in EMDR and DBT and work with individuals of all ages. I am currently completing training in Somatic Experiencing which takes a bottom up approach in trauma healing and addresses how trauma is stored in our bodies.

In 2014, I moved to Arizona and continued my work in substance abuse and addiction counseling, specifically with adolescent females in a residential setting.
My experience also includes three years as a therapist at the Arizona State Prison before joining the PCS team in 2017. My therapeutic philosophy centers around the motto "help you help yourself." I firmly believe that with the right tools, anyone can learn to manage and eventually overcome the challenges they face.

I have experience with homelessness, child welfare, acute child and adolescent therapy, families, couples, adolescents, children as well as adults and substance use disorders, serving in both the community, and within for-profit behavioral health institutions.
Experiencing mental health symptoms does not define who you are. No matter the impact on your life, the ability to cope during crisis can determine how quickly you return to healthy mental functioning, I have learned that in our society, some strive to have approval from others, while many struggle with intrusive thoughts or abnormal behaviors stemming from experiences with various traumas, abuses, lifestyles or identities. As an LPC I want to provide a safe haven for all populations, in a setting where judgement is nonexistent and the person is placed before the symptom by using an eclectic style tailored for each individual need.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
