As a psychologist I have extensive experience in providing both brief counseling, long term in depth psychotherapy as well as marriage and relationship counseling. I know what anxiety and depression feel like. I know how difficult relationships can be. I know the pain you feel when you have been betrayed, especially when there has been an affair. I also know how emotionally difficult and alone people feel when going through a divorce. With any situation I will help you gain greater clarity as to what steps to take next. For those interested in wanting to forgive, I can help you learn how to forgive and support spiritual journeys.

When we become someone less than who we were meant to be we can begin to experience anxiety, depression, substance abuse, loss of relationships and functional distress.
Wherever you are in your journey of self-discovery, remembering and becoming the person you were always meant to be is exactly where I will meet you. Together, we can awaken your highest self, navigate, discover and rewrite your story as you become the person you were always meant to be with clarity, confidence and unapologetic acceptance.

Using an eclectic approach to therapy, I treat anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, eating disorders, sexual abuse, OCD, self-esteem and family conflict, among other issues.
"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." Ralph Waldo Emerson. Using a holistic approach in therapy we will explore the mind, body and spirit connection. We will learn balance and build resilience through the power of self-discovery, thus improving your quality of life. Negative thought patterns and beliefs will be identified and challenged through DBT, mindfulness, and EMDR. When needed we may create healthy eating habits and a healthy relationship with exercise. Cultivating your spirituality to relieve fear and nurture an attitude of gratitude and abundance is encouraged.

You cannot recover from anxiety by just remaining calm, or depression by just being positive. Recovery from the battles of life takes time, patience, and releasing old habits. Whether you’re facing mental illness, parenting, relationships, or life transitions; change must occur in order for peace to resurface. It's okay to feel unstable, it's ok for things to not be ok, and it's okay to ask for help.

Choosing a therapist can be a daunting task. My goal at Epiphany Counseling is to make that choice easier by creating the empathy, nurturance and safety that allows you to freely explore the life situation that brings you to therapy. In that environment, I aim to help you experience a healing process that will restore hope, health and vitality to your life. I believe that almost all of us have the organic capacity to heal and fulfill our potential, but that past experiences have taught us dysfunctional ways to cope. The goal of therapy is to learn new ways of being so that we attain greater health, peace of mind and joy.

Domestic Abuse Therapists
What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?
Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?
Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?
Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?
It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
