A little about me, I've been working in the Behavioral Health Field since 2013. In the years since starting, I have worked in a number of different settings that supported the development of my skills as a Clinician. I have experience providing therapy to individuals, and families in person and through telehealth, running groups in residential treatment settings, and outpatient clinics/offices. Independent from my experience, I hold a Master of Science in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling specializing in Trauma and Crisis from Walden University and recently became basic trained in EMDR through an EMDRIA-approved provider.

I have a passion for the work I do. I'm a certified sexual addiction therapist and also trained in betrayal trauma healing. We work with individuals and couples in experiencing healing and wholeness through this essential work. Attending California Institute of Integral Studies shaped my holistic approach to therapy: body, heart, mind and spirit. I use a systems approach when working with clients to see and understand how all areas of one’s life might be impacting them today. I have worked with hundreds of men and women over the last 20 years as a successful corporate leader in Human Resources and Organizational Development. In this “first career” I worked to create powerful change for teams in both their personal and professional lives.

I cannot fix you, because you are not broken! Sometimes when we are repeating the same destructive cycles and patterns of unhealthy behaviors, it can feel like a "broken" record, but you're not. You are stuck in a pattern of learned behaviors, which is not conducive to your overall health. I can help you identify those patterns by rewiring the brain and instilling healthier habits. As a Black Woman, my mission is to assist the BIPOC community in de-stigmatizing mental health and making it safe for our community to receive mental health treatment. My passion is aiding Black Women to show up for themselves. We have been placed in undesirable roles, where we began to accept the false narrative and unrealistic expectations that we are to be all things, to all people within our lives. We take on many roles while fighting the societal stereotypes placed upon us. Through this, the greatest of all losses occurred…we lost ourselves. Together, I will assist you in cultivating a firmer foundation of self.

I am a owner and founder of Stories Counseling, PLLC and an approved Clinical Supervisor. As a therapist and former pastor, my personal motto is that EVERY.STORY.MATTERS. I truly believe that we are not defined by our wounds and that there is true healing through refinement, redemption, and reconciliation to the self. No matter where you are in this life journey, it is the hope that you can see that the story isn't over yet and you can write the future chapters that you need your life story to be. I trust that you know yourself best, and right now you know you don’t feel your best. My ambition in life is to help those who are suffering emotionally. My hope in therapy is to realign your body sensations to your emotions, and reconnect you to your true self. I believe therapy is about a therapist and a client collaborating together to address mental health issues and or deal with life problems. I believe the client (You) is the expert about themselves concerning strengths, weaknesses, and issues of concern. I believe it is my purpose as a therapist to build a therapeutic relationship which supports the development of your insights, and life skills; including the identification of strengths, and support systems that may aid in the reduction of negative symptoms and improve quality. My goal is to show up for you when you may not be able to show up for yourself, to support you in a non-judgmental and empathetic way, and to help you realize your strengths and capacity for change. Every person has a voice and I believe it is important for that voice to be heard. Relationships can be messy and complicated. Our voices can often feel lost in the chaos. I work with clients to help them be, and feel, heard. In addition, I believe that no two experiences are the same. This means that even siblings raised together will have different perspectives and experiences of their childhood. These differences can lead people to define the world differently than others around them. I help clients to identify these differences and explore the behavioral and emotional impact they have on current relationships.
