In career counseling, we will work through burnout, anxiety, self-doubt, and identity questions so you can move forward with confidence, alignment, and purpose.
Hey! I’m Scott. I genuinely love helping others reach their goals. Therapy can feel intimidating, because asking for help is a vulnerable spot to be in and you want to be able to trust whoever you work with. My goal for us is to figure out what matters to you and what you want out of therapy – and move toward that. When you become more fully the person you were created to be – it changes everything.

I work with individuals and couples seeking a way out of toxic mindsets, stuck relationships, family problems, anxiety, and anger. I love working with individuals as they unfold their stories. Everyone, from teens to mature adults have a unique experience to share, which we can better understand together to reshape and build a bright and hopeful future. Couples often get stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, frustration, hurt, and resentment. Together, we can unwind tangled communication and work to develop positive experiences that reflect our honest desires and values. We can find hope and healing from our pain and suffering.

You look like you have it together on the outside, but inside you're exhausted. Maybe you're the one everyone relies on. You take care of things, anticipate needs, solve problems, and keep moving. Yet you find yourself overwhelmed, resentful, anxious, or wondering why life feels so much harder than it appears to be for everyone else.

We are currently living in a world where there is a lot of things that are happening in which we do not have control over. These circumstances can impact us directly or indirectly causing unnecessary trauma. When mental illness go unchecked it can cause underlying issues such as anger, anxiety, depression, and/or addiction.

I SEE you. I see you hustling to get more done—to be the perfect parent/spouse/employee/leader. I see that under your polished exterior, you are exhausted, stressed out, and ready for a change. I see you feel unappreciated, but left frustrated and guilty that you feel this way. I HEAR you. I hear your inner thoughts, “I’m working myself ragged, and I’m still not enough.” “If I could just (blank) then I will be happy.” But I also hear the quiet whisper that says, “despite it all, I’m still trying.” I specialize in working with Betrayal Trauma & Sex Addiction (CSAT), trauma informed- trained in ART & EMDR, couples, and shame.

In this “first career” I worked to create powerful change for teams in both their personal and professional lives.
Now as a therapist, I believe my job is to facilitate healing. I do this by creating a therapeutic relationship with my clients for “soul witnessing” (as one of my favorite authors describes it). In my eyes, therapy is a journey to understand the moments in our lives that have led us to where we are today.

A healthy lifestyle includes cognitive ( brain ) health. My experience includes; crisis, hospital and private practice. I use the Cognitive Behavioral approach. How we learned to think about addressing our problems / disappointments ( not getting what you want) /struggles / pain that come in and out of lives play a critical role how we manage our cognitive wellness. You want to manage emotional /physical disappointments by not using your " not working" emotional band-aids such as; controlling, manipulating, going in your rabbit hole, co dependence or one of many learned behaviors you think solves/ avoids the problem(s).

Career Counseling Therapists
How do I know if I need career counseling?
Determining whether a career counselor is needed involves assessing one's current career and identifying what changes can be made to improve one's overall quality of life. In particular, feelings of loss of motivation, fatigue, anxiety, depression, procrastination, or ongoing levels of high stress can all be indicative of a need for career-related counseling. In addition, individuals changing jobs may want the decision-making support or self-reflection opportunities provided by a career counselor.

Who can benefit from career counseling?
Anyone can benefit from the self-reflection, skill development, and stress management techniques that career counseling can provide. However, individuals who are feeling overwhelmed or burnt out with their current job and individuals considering a major career change may particularly benefit from career counseling to improve their wellbeing. Additionally, individuals who are facing issues in their current job, such as coworker relationship challenges or not meeting performance goals, may benefit from the perspective that a career counselor can provide. College-age or young professionals may also uniquely benefit from career counseling as they make key decisions surrounding education and job training that will impact their career trajectory.

How long does career counseling typically last?
The length of career counseling can vary greatly depending on the needs of the individual and what type of support they are seeking. Career coaching or advising services—which serve clients in a specific, goal-oriented capacity—often last for a shorter duration and are sometimes only a single session or a few sessions in length. In contrast, career counseling as part of a more integrative therapeutic relationship with a counselor may last longer, particularly if the issues faced by the client are longstanding and/or more complex in nature; in such cases, individuals may expect therapy to last multiple months or longer.

How to prepare for career counseling?
Clients can prepare for career counseling sessions by outlining the specific topics they would like to address with the counselor, such as current job challenges or hopes for the future of their career. Compiling one's thoughts on such topics often requires reflection on one's career and future goals, which in itself can be beneficial for session preparation. Clients may also want to put together a list of questions they would like to ask the counselor, particularly if the career counselor they are seeing has particular expertise in a given career area. Conducting research into potential future jobs, training opportunities, or support resources in one's area may also help clients prepare for career counseling by providing them with a background of what resources are available in their area.
