My motivation to become a counselor stemmed from a deep desire and a calling to help others. I want to see people discover healthy relationships with themselves and those around them, and I think one of the best ways to do that is through counseling. If you struggle with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, or other concerns, we will work together to promote healing, bring change, and cultivate resiliency. I utilize various modalities depending on my client's needs, but my primary approach is person-centered, nonjudgmental, and collaborative. I am also an EMDR Trained Clinician who believes in the effectiveness of EMDR.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor here to help you overcome the many stressors and life events that seem to impact our lives. I understand it can be difficult and overwhelming to manage on your own. Sometimes all you need is an outside perspective, or help to manage anxieties or depression; and sometimes you know it is rooted deeper from your past. Either way, I can help you overcome the many hurdles life throws at us that often leave us feeling broken. I specialize in helping overcome abuse and/ or trauma; those who need to feel a sense of purpose; and those going through tense, and sometimes toxic, relationships.

You’re made it! You’re so courageous beginning your journey toward healing! Are you hurting? Stressed? Want help? I’m very warm, caring, and empathic, ready to help you feel safe, and committed to earning your trust. It’s the “relationship” between the therapist and client that heals, so let’s see if I’m a good fit for you! Clients I see want to take charge of their lives, break old family cycles and patterns, heal old wounds, better trust their “gut instincts,” find out who they are and what they want, and want healthier, more fulfilling relationships. Does this sound like it could be you?

People seek therapy for guidance, understanding, and relief. During our sessions, we'll work on building rapport and skill-building to apply in your everyday interactions. We'll explore your thought process, emotions, actions, and behaviors that arise in the present moment. I look forward to building a collaborative relationship. As a second-generation, multicultural Latinx-Asian female, I believe that diversity is beautiful, and everyone should have access to healing and peace. I am culturally sensitive, open-minded, and non-judgmental.

Women's Issues Therapists

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
